Chapter 15 - [15] Outfoxing the Old Headmaster – I'll Cut You Down!

The new Slytherin students all looked at Argus with puzzled expressions.

Argus sneered inwardly.

You couldn't hold back anymore?

Don't worry, there will be plenty of places you can't resist in the future!

Putting aside the feud between the Alliance and Dumbledore, Argus himself didn't have such a bad impression of Dumbledore.

In any case, this old man had dedicated his life to maintaining peace in the magical world.

Even if he was sometimes too arbitrary and wanted everyone to follow his ideas.

But the intention was good.

Unlike some hypocrites who talked about sacrificing everything, but when it came to their own turn, they ran away faster than anyone else.

Dumbledore's selflessness lay in the fact that he was willing to sacrifice not only others, but also his own life.

Unfortunately, his ideas might not be correct.

Imposing one's own ideas on others was a mistake in itself.

"Mr. Grindelwald, if you don't want to stand there like a troll, you'd better come with me now."

Snape's impatient voice rang out.

A smile played on Argus's lips: "Dean, please lead the way."

"Snort!"

Snape snorted and led Argus toward the principal's office on the eighth floor.

Throughout the journey, Argus did not speak rashly.

Snape was not as easily fooled as Harry.

How could someone capable of being a double agent be so easily provoked with just a few words!

If he was not careful, he might arouse his suspicion.

Fortunately, Snape was not a talkative person, and the two of them walked in silence to the eighth floor and climbed the griffin-shaped spiral staircase.

"Sherbet Lemon!"

The stone beast opened the gate, and the two entered the principal's office.

What came into view were framed portraits of past principals, as well as countless books.

Silver instruments whirred on spinning wheels.

A phoenix named Fawkes stood on his perch, preening his feathers with his beak.

Dumbledore was momentarily dazed upon seeing Argus, but quickly recovered and spoke to Snape.

"Thank you for your help, Severus."

"Heh, I hope that the headmaster can eat less sweets, so that his poor potions professor can have less work."

Snape saw the candy on the table as soon as he entered and could not help but be sarcastic.

"Please be understanding, this is a centenarian's only hobby."

Dumbledore replied with a smile and extended an invitation to Argus.

"Mr. Grindelwald, would you like some sherbet lemons? Or a Cockroach Cluster?"

"No need, Principal."

"Perhaps you could consider Professor Snape's advice; eating too much sugar at night is indeed bad for your teeth."

"Especially for a centenarian."

Argus, who possessed level seven Occlumency, did not show much fear of Dumbledore.

If Voldemort had been standing opposite him, he would probably have had to think about how to escape.

Dealing with a law-abiding old man was much better than dealing with a madman.

Even if this old man's strength was terrifyingly powerful!

"Severus, if there's nothing else, why don't you go check out the Slytherin common room?"

"In accordance with Slytherin tradition, the election for Prefect is about to begin."

I knew that old Deng was up to no good!

Argus sneered inwardly.

They deliberately called me to the principal's office at this time just to disqualify me from competing for the top spot!

Being unable to become the first in command meant my reputation in Slytherin had dropped significantly.

By supporting this chief, they could also cultivate someone who could rival me.

As expected of Dumbledore!

Even a slight move involved several layers of calculation!

Snape turned and left without the slightest hesitation.

"Mr. Grindelwald, please have a seat," Dumbledore said calmly.

"What would you like to drink? How about some English black tea?"

"Yes, thank you, Principal." Argus said with a smile.

"I envy that you can enjoy life anytime, anywhere, unlike my father."

"He's about your age, and he's alone in a tall tower."

"No one talked to him. He ate simple meals every day and could only stay quietly in his room, staring blankly at the letter in his hand."

"I once asked him why I had never seen a reply, but he didn't say anything, he just silently looked into the distance."

"If only he could enjoy life more like you do."

"You agree, Mr. Principal!"

Damn it, you're trying to pull these little tricks on me?

I'll kill you with my knife!

As Argus spoke, his eyes fixed on Dumbledore.

Dumbledore appeared calm, but his slightly trembling hands betrayed his inner turmoil.

"I really don't know what my father was thinking. He knew there was no way he would get a reply, but he still sent them out one after another."

"That makes sense. Who would love an old man like him?"

Argus's feigned sentimentality caused Dumbledore to completely lose his composure.

He did not even notice the hot tea he was holding spilled on his hands!

Seeing Dumbledore's eyes gradually redden, Argus clenched his back teeth tightly.

I was afraid I might accidentally burst out laughing!

It was you and my dad who set the goal together, and you even came up with the slogan.

But what happened later?

You just packed your bags and left, leaving me, your old man, to struggle all by myself!

That's one thing, but for some reason, she's willing to break her blood oath and fight him for love!

I will step over his corpse to become the greatest white wizard of this century!

My father is imprisoned in Nurmengard, while you're living a comfortable life.

Eating honey candy and singing songs every day!

Is there no law left?

Is there no law left?!

Dumbledore was at a loss for words, or perhaps it would be more accurate to say he dared not speak.

Argus did not urge him, but quietly observed the changes in his expression.

From reminiscing to remembering, then to regret and remorse.

Nearly ten minutes later, Dumbledore snapped out of his reverie and looked at Argus with an increasingly complicated expression.

"As you get older, you tend to think about things from the past."

"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting."

"It's alright, Principal. Only those who have unforgettable memories can have something to reminisce about."

Argus's words aimed directly at Dumbledore's heart, and each strike was more vicious than the last!

"You still haven't told me why you called me here?"

After being reprimanded by Argus, Dumbledore forgot what he had called him over to talk about.

He was stumped for a moment!

Just then, a strange noise came from outside the gate.

Professor Snape, who had just left, returned.

"What's wrong, Severus?"

"That's a question for our beloved Mr. Grindelwald."

"Mr. Malfoy and the others said that, apart from Mr. Grindelwald, the first-year Slytherin students will not obey anyone."

Dumbledore finally remembered why he had called Argus over.

He just had not expected Argus to have such a high reputation in Slytherin.

His already wrinkled forehead furrowed even more deeply…
