Chapter 1 - Chapter One: Worlds Apart

"From my shoes—we're late!" Lucky shouted at the top of his voice, hopping impatiently on one foot.

"Don't just stand there," he snapped, running his fingers through his hair. "Help me fix this—fast!"

"I'm already dressed," Lucas replied calmly, not even glancing up. "And you're the one yelling about being late. It's only 6:30 a.m. No one has even reached school yet. You really do have a problem."

Lucky shot him a cold, warning glare.

The twins—Lucky and Lucas—were among the most privileged children in the United States of America, born into one of the wealthiest families in the country. Lucky was troublesome, loud, and reckless, yet undeniably handsome. Lucas, on the other hand, was quiet, distant, and known as the coldest boy in school—just as handsome, but far less approachable.

Girls openly crushed on him. Even some boys admired him.

Yet Lucas hated crowds. He avoided attention, kept his circle small, and rejected most invitations, often excusing himself as an introvert.

"Now that you boys are grown," Kate hissed as she bustled around them, "you should know how to take care of yourselves."

"Kate," Mrs. George said gently, stepping in, "don't talk to them like that. They're still children."

She reached out to hand Lucky his shoes.

Their father was rarely home, consumed by work, and his absence had long become normal to them. Their mother, however, was a full-time housewife—warm, present, and always attentive.

"Kate, we're ready. Can we go now?" Lucky asked impatiently as he slung his bag over his shoulder.

Lucas sat lazily on the sofa, fully absorbed in a game.

The twins were never jealous of each other. If anything, Kate—the mischievous housekeeper—had unknowingly taught them the art of pranks.

Lucky's most infamous prank nearly ruined a teacher's career.

That day, he had wandered into the teachers' restroom and caught a male and female teacher locked in an intimate moment. The man was kissing her. Lucky secretly recorded everything—they hadn't noticed him at all.

Later, he confronted the female teacher.

"I won't report this," he told her calmly, showing her the video. "But only if you do what I ask. Slap that aggressive teacher in front of everyone, and I'll stay silent."

The incident was reported anyway—but Lucky was never punished. His name protected him.

"Don't ever try that nonsense again," Kate warned sharply as she escorted them to the car. "Next time, you'll be suspended immediately."

"Please, ma'am," Rihanna pleaded weakly. "I'm not feeling well."

"Call Olivia," Rihanna heard a voice say as she stumbled down the steps, clutching her head as though it were splitting open.

Before she could react, a slipper flew through the air and struck her painfully on the head.

"You'll do the work for me, you crazy bitch," Olivia sneered, poking Rihanna's head.

Olivia walked away with her head held high, uncaring—despite being the same age as her.

"I can't even go to school anymore," Rihanna whispered brokenly.

Will I really leave this house like this? she thought bitterly.

That night, Anna didn't question anything. She locked herself in her room, cried until her eyes burned, and finally fell asleep from exhaustion.

The next morning, she packed a few belongings and slipped out through the back door. She ran without looking back, heart pounding. When she finally stopped, gasping for breath, she realized she was already far from home.

"What is a girl doing outside alone at this hour?" a passerby muttered.

Anna heard everything. She hid inside an abandoned building and cried endlessly.

"I'm alone now," she whispered to herself.

Rihanna was later spotted by a social worker and taken to an orphanage. Six long years passed there. No one truly wanted her. On her sixteenth birthday, after completing high school, she was released.

No one came.

She survived by taking any job she could find. Hunger, fear, and betrayal became familiar companions. She was adopted once—but sent away again when the family could no longer cope.

Eventually, she found herself in yet another household.

"Can you handle the work?" the man asked sternly.

"Yes, sir," Anna replied with a polite smile. "I can cope."

"You'll come every day."

She began immediately.

That same day, Lucky and Lucas entered a store to buy drinks and food. Lucas went to pay while Lucky stayed behind arranging the items.

Suddenly, he bumped into someone.

"I'm sorry," Rihanna said softly, bowing her head.

Lucky stared at her, stunned. How can someone be this fair? he wondered. She's beautiful—even without makeup.

"Bro, I can't find the attendant," Lucky called out.

"Oh—you came to buy something?" Rihanna asked.

"No," Lucky replied, confused.

"I'm the attendant," she said, kneeling to help gather the fallen items.

"You must be new," Lucky said casually.

"Lucas, you talk too much," Lucky snapped. "Let's pay and go."

"Can I have your number?" Lucas asked boldly.

Rihanna scoffed quietly and walked away. "Stupid guys."

"Me? Me?" Lucas laughed. "I'll ask my brother to hunt you down for that."
