Chapter 68 - Magic Show

There was still a small amount of coffee left at the bottom of the cup. Fulen glanced at the dark liquid and the white cup wall, feeling his taste buds had been wasted. He sighed and thought to himself, "I won't take advantage of these anymore. Whoever likes such terrible coffee can drink it."

However, thinking that it was his own coffee and sugar he had poured, Fulen felt too embarrassed to dislike the remaining coffee. After downing the rest of the coffee in one gulp, Fulen suddenly remembered something: the silly ticket seller, Darlene, apparently hadn't sold him a ticket for the Magic Show.

Although Fulen was past his prime, he still wanted to sigh again: "Oh my goodness, are foolishness and forgetfulness linked in this world? But it's also quite nostalgic."

After sighing, Fulen's lips still curled into a smile that Darlene would find lewd but Fulen himself considered warm. Of course, the opinion of a silly Darlene could be ignored, so Fulen's smile was definitely a warm one.

Fulen stretched, patted his backside to brush off non-existent dust, and then returned the way he came, back to the initial ticket hall.

Darlene was originally bored, but when she saw Fulen walking back, she couldn't help but be startled. She almost blurted out, "Why are you back?" but then, on second thought, Darlene realized she had forgotten something again.

Before Fulen could speak, Darlene quickly replied, "Oh, sir, please forgive my terrible memory. Are you hoping to purchase tickets for the upcoming Magic Show? Hmm, the tickets are right here."

Darlene quickly handed the tickets to Fulen with both hands. Fulen didn't know what expression to make; he felt as if he was being disliked. With a strange feeling, Fulen replied, "Okay, thank you."

Fulen glanced at the price on the ticket, paid the money, and then looked at Darlene. Seeing the girl still standing foolishly, he inexplicably sighed again, deeply feeling the necessity of the service industry. So he asked, "Miss, where is the Magic Show held?"

Darlene, realizing belatedly, pointed the general direction and said, "The Magic Show is in the Auditorium. This is the last performance of the morning." After speaking, Darlene bowed with great service spirit.

Fulen waved his hand, bidding farewell to Darlene, this unqualified service personnel. He thought pessimistically, "No way, no way, I hope the place to digest the potion is actually inside this Circus. Is this Circus really that unprofessional?"

Without thinking too much, Fulen walked into the Auditorium of the Circus.

No matter what, the architecture of this Circus was quite elaborate. From the outside, the Circus looked like a tent, but from the inside, the building resembled an expanded three-story traditional theater.

It should be said that a very tall and large stage and Spectator seating were in the middle of this building, called the Auditorium. Beyond the Auditorium, each floor had rooms, either lounges, reception rooms, or front desks.

The Magic Show Fulen was going to watch was held in this Auditorium. Although this hall could not be described as particularly beautiful or exquisite, from a distance, one would feel that this hall was indeed magnificent. It was like when we watch a movie, we often don't care if the chairs or scenery are good-looking, but rather we see that there are many seats, giving it a grand presence.

Because whether it's a cinema or an Auditorium, the focus is not on the decorations, but on the performance, on the movie.

Of course, to be fair, the seats and decorations in the Auditorium were better than those in a cinema. Fulen looked at a wooden chair beside him. Although Fulen didn't know much about precious woods, seeing that each chair had a soft yet firm, colorful silk cushion and backrest, he still felt it looked much more luxurious than the integrated chairs in cinemas.

Turning his head, the corridors of the Auditorium were adorned with various paintings. Although they were certainly not by famous artists, and the themes of the paintings were not unified. There were paintings of simple color blocks, paintings of crystal balls, and various paintings with themes like the mysterious Witch, they still made one feel very comfortable when put together.

As for the paintings, there were also lampstands decorated with metal leaves and flowers, but at this time, the candles on the lampstands were being extinguished one by one by the staff. Fulen was startled. Sure enough, such a large Circus would not have only one front desk serving as staff; there must also be those cleaning staff who help out. But why couldn't they find a more professional ticket seller, Fulen grumbled to himself.

However, extinguishing the candles far away from him did not make Fulen feel a significant change in the light around him. Fulen looked up at the ceiling of the hall; there were lights above, hanging so high, they must be kerosene lamps.

By the time Fulen had generally surveyed the hall, all the surrounding candles had been extinguished. Fulen clearly felt the surroundings darken, and the already sparsely populated hall became even more silent.

Fulen looked around and realized that including himself, there were only a handful of seven or eight people watching the Magic Show. This had to be said to be quite desolate.

Just as Fulen was thinking this, the surroundings became even darker. This was an instantaneous change that immediately drew Fulen's attention to the kerosene lamps above. These kerosene lamps could actually be remotely controlled. However, in addition to the circle of kerosene lamps around, the kerosene lamps on the main stage were even more conspicuous.

Fulen followed the kerosene lamps downwards. On the stage below, a Magician with a smiling face, wearing a tuxedo and a top hat, was already standing.

The Magician looked around, and after ensuring everyone's attention was on the stage, he suddenly waved his hand, drawing a circle in front of him. When the flames disappeared, the Magician held a rose. After pretending to sniff it twice, the rose turned into a dove.

The dove circled the three tiers of Spectator seating, then flew to the Magician with a wheat ear in its beak. After handing it to the Magician, the dove flew straight away, and the wheat ear transformed into something resembling a microphone.

Once everyone's attention was focused on the stage, the Magician calmly cleared his throat twice and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, it is an honor to share this magical feast with you. Although my skills are not exceptionally refined, I still wish to entertain you all. So, let us begin now."

However, it was silent below the stage. The few Spectators were not the type of people who would respond to the Magician even if they were alone, so the atmosphere was slightly awkward. But the Magician clearly had a strong heart, or perhaps he was used to it.

The Magician chuckled softly, clapped his hands, and a flame shot around the stage for four or five seconds. Once the stage was visible, a box filled with various props appeared beside the Magician.

The Magic Show officially began.
