Chapter 37 - Circus

Soon, the maid finished all her work. Finally, Ashley found Fulen, who was lost in thought in the living room on the first floor. Ashley's arrival obviously woke Fulen from his world, so Fulen took out his pocket watch.

It was already close to 9:30, clearly, this skilled maid was an experienced worker. Fulen was very satisfied with such speed; although he didn't know the quality of the work, he was quite pleased with her efficient pace.

Fulen said, "Your singing was very beautiful. I regret that my elusive presence ruined that beauty, and I apologize to you."

Ashley quickly said, "Thank you for your compliment."

It was clear that this lady did not possess the unique enthusiasm and openness of the people of Trier, and Fulen thus understood her general character.

Fulen continued, "I am very satisfied with your work today, and I hope you can continue to maintain it. Oh, take this money first."

Ashley expertly took it, and after assuming a listening posture, Fulen continued, "That's right, I hope you can replace the cleaning tools when they are no longer useful, and also the candles. Hmm, never mind the rest, I can buy them myself. If the money runs out, then you just tell me, and I will continue to give you money."

Ashley nodded with practiced ease, then quickly bid farewell: "Mr. Fulen, if there's nothing else, I'll take my leave now."

After Fulen nodded his assent, Ashley quickly departed.

Fulen pondered for a moment, apparently finding nothing that needed patching up, then picked up the newspaper that had been delivered today, preparing to read it in the study.

Casually flipping through the Trier Commercial Evening News, Fulen didn't find any information about Beyonder gatherings, and after looking at the newspaper, he realized that the money he spent on it was truly not worth it.

The news on it was either outdated, unsubstantiated, or gossip about theater actors Fulen had never even heard of, or scandalous news about obscure government officials.

However, speaking of scandalous news, Fulen knew of one newspaper that rose to prominence because of it. It is said that the rise of this newspaper coincided with Rosell's ascent. To be honest, before Rosell, no gossip newspaper dared to truly discuss the scandals of the powerful and influential.

After all, before Rosell, Intis was not a republic, but a kingdom, and the royal family was the Sauron Family, the 'Hunter' family, or perhaps the 'Provoker' or 'Conspirer' family?

Anyway, the royal family of this country did not have a good reputation in the Intis Kingdom; they were often criticized behind their backs, being called short-tempered, foul-mouthed, and gloomy.

This newspaper began reporting Rosell's scandals when he was still somewhat unknown, then gradually witnessed Rosell's rise.

Of course, this was also because Rosell was unwilling to punish the newspaper, and instead was happy to see it succeed, granting it a 'death-exempt' golden token.

Finally, the scandalous news in Trier became uncontrollable.

"It's really getting wilder and wilder," Fulen lamented.

However, Rosell's move also made Intis more open, aligning to some extent with the republican ideals of the people of the republic.

Or perhaps, this was also the reason Rosell did it?

Was this also within your expectations?!

Fulen shook his head, uninterestedly discarded the Trier Commercial Evening News, and picked up another newspaper, the Trier Daily.

This newspaper was much more impressive.

Although the Trier Daily's name wasn't striking, its sales and the excellence of its content were quite commendable.

"The Emperor seems to be accelerating the development of new shipping routes. Hmm, there are also reporters speculating that the rampant pirates in the new routes have Intis's involvement, and that this is Loen's slander, and that they had already laid out their pieces? It seems these rumors were not kept from others; on the contrary, quite a few people have these conjectures. As expected of a republic?"

Fulen read today's newspaper, thinking as he went.

Suddenly, he saw entertainment news: Bakar Circus has new Circus performances today. Those who wish to book tickets, please purchase them quickly. Tickets can be reserved at the post office or the Circus front desk.

Looking at this prominent news, Fulen recalled that his planned activities included watching a magic show. However, Fulen did not want to buy tickets for the new Circus performance. On one hand, the new Circus performance might not necessarily be a magic show, and on the other hand, even if Fulen wanted a ticket, he might not succeed.

Perhaps it's hard for people nowadays to imagine the popularity of such large circuses, but on the current continent, apart from the black and white silent films that appeared at the beginning of the year, there were no more beloved entertainment programs.

Even those dramas were not new to the people of Trier.

Drama is classic, perfect, and beloved, but this treasure is produced in extremely low quantities.

Although thousands of years of accumulation on the continent have yielded various perfect and outstanding dramas, for Trier, renowned for its flourishing dramatic arts, there is simply no way to satisfy people's weekly entertainment activities.

Although people have high demands for drama, their demands for Circus are very low.

Because for many, Circus is merely a pastime, so the requirements are naturally not as strict.

However, if someone insists on treating Circus as an art form akin to drama, even a Circus Zealot in Trier would argue against it.

Tapping on the soft sofa, Fulen couldn't help but fall into contemplation.

Today is the 8th; although the 15th isn't far, taking time to watch a Circus show would still leave plenty of time.

After all, he had been studying for a long time; it was time to reward himself.

Then, Fulen began to count the days he had been transmigrated, and couldn't help but fall silent.

If he hadn't miscounted, he had only been transmigrated for a total of 4 days, and had studied for less than 4 days, not even as much as an elementary school student.

"No way!" Fulen frustratingly ran his fingers through his hair, "I already feel like a year or two has passed, no, at least a month or two. Why are there so many things? Forget it, I just have a lot of things to do, but I still have to play when I can, otherwise I'll become a cold, unfeeling Robot! Even if I've only studied for 4 days!"

After fully embracing his identity as a poor student, Fulen began to ponder when to watch the Circus. Then, after counting and recounting, he felt he should slap himself.

He had nothing to do right now, so why was he agonizing over it? He could go watch the Circus whenever he wanted. It seemed he really was used to being a homebody, Fulen sighed inwardly.
