Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 – Exploring Room 13

The morning was unusually quiet as we gathered near the oak tree before the first class. Excitement buzzed in the air today was the day we would finally see the infamous Room 13.

Sofi bounced on her toes, clutching her notebook. "Okay, team! Today is the big day! Remember, stay together, stay calm, and don't freak out. We're going in as professionals!"

Nicole linked her arm with hers, laughing. "Professional ghost hunters, more like."

Liliana nudged Daniel playfully. "I hope you're brave enough today. You promised to protect me!"

Daniel smirked. "I always keep my promises. Don't worry, I've got you."

Jessica and Lucas were whispering quietly over a small sketchbook. Lucas held the pen, pointing out something to Jessica, who giggled softly and shook her head. Their shoulders brushed as they leaned close.

I walked beside Eren, who gave me a faint, teasing smile. "You're actually excited, aren't you?" he said quietly.

"Maybe a little," I admitted. "But I'm not scared. Just… curious."

"That's the right attitude," he said, smirking. "Curiosity keeps things interesting."

The group made its way toward the old wing. The hallway was narrow, dimly lit, and smelled faintly of dust and aged wood. The closer we got to Room 13, the colder the air seemed to become. The door was slightly ajar, creaking softly whenever someone brushed past it.

Sofi peered at it dramatically. "Okay, who wants to go first?"

"Not me!" Nicole whispered, hiding behind Sofi.

Liliana laughed nervously. "Daniel, you go first. Protect me!"

Daniel rolled his eyes but stepped ahead, gesturing for her to follow.

Jessica and Lucas quietly crept behind, camera and sketchbook ready. I was calm, observing everything carefully, while Eren stepped close beside me, his eyes scanning the room with a quiet intensity.

"Ready?" he asked, his voice low.

I nodded. "As ready as I'll ever be."

The door creaked as we pushed it fully open. The room was frozen in time: wooden desks were covered in dust, cobwebs hung in the corners, and faded chalk marks dotted the blackboard. A cold draft swept across the floor, and the dim light flickered as if it was struggling to reach us.

Sofi squealed softly, clutching Nicole's hand. "It's… it's actually spooky!"

Daniel whispered to Liliana, teasing her gently. "See? Nothing to be afraid of… maybe."

Jessica crouched beside Lucas, sketching a small corner of the room. "We should document everything. Even little details might matter."

Eren and I moved carefully along the side, observing the room. "Look at that corner," he said quietly, pointing to a faded mark on the wall. "There's something odd here. Want to check?"

I nodded. "Sure. But don't scare me."

He smirked. "I won't… at least, not too much."

The group fanned out slowly, carefully stepping between the desks. Sofi and Nicole whispered and laughed nervously, Liliana clung lightly to Daniel, and Jessica and Lucas focused on their sketches and notes. I noticed something subtle a shadow flickering along the far wall, moving just out of the corner of my eye. I looked at Eren, who noticed it too, but he didn't panic. Instead, he gave me a small, reassuring nod.

As we explored, small strange occurrences began to happen. A faint whisper seemed to drift through the room, too soft to understand. One of the lights flickered briefly, casting elongated shadows across the desks. A cold spot near the back made Liliana shiver, and she instinctively pressed closer to Daniel.

Sofi whispered dramatically. "Did anyone else hear that?"

Nicole nodded, gripping her arm. "I think so…"

Eren leaned toward me quietly. "Stay calm. Watch carefully. Most of this has a reason."

I nodded, eyes scanning the room. Something about the shadows and the flickering light made my curiosity spike.

Near the back, we discovered an old drawer tucked under one of the desks. It was locked, and the wood had started to warp with age.

"Try opening it," Sofi suggested, her voice shaky but excited.

Daniel shook his head. "Better not touch it. Who knows what's inside?"

Eren crouched beside it, examining the lock. "There might be something interesting in there… but we'll need a key or another way to get it open."

I watched him quietly, impressed by his calm confidence. "Maybe we should come back tomorrow, better prepared," I suggested.

"Agreed," he said, still smirking. "I like leaving a little mystery."

After a final careful look around, we decided to leave the room. The cold draft seemed to follow us out, and Sofi clutched Nicole's hand, pretending to be terrified. Daniel teased Liliana gently, and Jessica and Lucas were whispering to each other, clearly impressed by the old room.

Eren glanced at me as we walked back toward the hallway. "Not as scary as you thought, huh?"

I shook my head. "No… but definitely mysterious."

"Good," he said, giving me a quiet, teasing smile. "Curiosity suits you."

On the bus ride home, the group chattered nonstop about the experience: Sofi and Nicole debated whether it was really haunted, Liliana and Daniel teased each other endlessly, and Jessica and Lucas quietly discussed what details they noticed. I sat beside Eren, feeling the quiet thrill of curiosity and excitement.
