Chapter 1 - A new day

Ren woke up to bright sunlight spilling in through the windows.

He stretched and yawned wide as he looked around the cramped apartment for his human.

Ah there he was putting on his shoes, his human, Robert.

Ren chuffed as he saw Robert getting ready for today's "adventures" *sigh* his human was endlessly silly.

Ren only just tolerated these "adventures" outside only because he had to make sure this silly goofball of a human didn't die out in the world.

Ren passed by the full length mirror and glanced as his reflection. "I look damn good" Ren thought as the reflection of dark almost black long haired Main Coon looked back at him, bright green eyes reflected his admiration of his form dark striped patterns in his glorious fur barely visible.

He stopped to clean a spot in his fur that looked neglected. Once finished he went to his human to tell him to just relax and take a nap.

Robert was busy putting on his shoes on when his buddy, Ren, came walking up to him *Meowing* loudly. Ren knew he was protesting today's walk around the city. Robert knew to keep a positive attitude as animals could sense things like that. Thus he always referred to their outings as adventures!

He chuckled to himself and his overenthusiasm. But that was the way he was raised to stay positive and use laughter and humor as a weapon against the wickedness of this world.

Ren stared at his human chuckling to himself and shook his head.

"He's a goofy idiot" Ren thought to himself.

If not for me he'd be dead in a week Ren lamented.

I must keep him safe as my human needs my help! Ren thought back to his first meeting with his human, who had so selflessly saved him from that pack of wild mutts! The memory both filling him with gratitude for his human, and anger towards those things Robert called dogs. He furiously extended and retracted his claws trying to calm himself.

"Aww come on Ren! Not the new carpet." Robert said as he grabbed his keys and waved Ren over to the door. "Ren behave!"

Ren rolled his eyes at his silly lovable human and brushed up against his legs. His rumbling purr couldn't help but develop in his chest. Together they stepped out of the apartment and into the city.
