Chapter 1 - The Hive.

The young man awoke from a harrowing dream.

Inside a cold, bleak incubation chamber, a young man with soft, pale skin and blonde hair opened his emerald eyes. A frail halo hovering sombrely above his head. His naked body curled up in a fetal position as if he was a baby in the comfort of its mother's womb; instead, he was surrounded by similar chambers, each containing pale skin and a soft glow of a halo.

As if realising his existence, the young man squirmed inside the ivory chamber in a panic, before the water inside slowly drained, lowering the young man onto his thin knees with a startled yelp. The glass door of the cylinder chamber slid down, freeing him of his imprisonment. With a couple of blinks and squints, the young man could finally see his surroundings without the blurriness the water had given him.

Colossal, ivory walls surrounded the porcelain hive, dozens of cylinder chambers dotted around as pale figures slowly stepped out of them, some with confidence, some with hesitance, and some crying hysterically from fear, fear they did not know or understand.

The young man let out a shuddering breath, slowly rising to his feet as he steps out of his chamber, only to instantly fall flat on his face against the cool marble floor, with a soft groan the young man rose back to his feet, feeling slightly embarrassed of his ungraceful fall — whatever embarrassment was.

Looking around like a curious kitten, the young man stared at a sobbing figure with a small frown, it was a young woman with pale skin, her beautiful azure eyes clouded with tears as her hands grasp her long white hair while she mumbled something under her breath. The young man exhaled softly from his nose, before stumbling over to her whilst trying not to trip over his own feet again, shaking his head to remove the unpleasant memory — he finally reached the sobbing girl, tilting his head slightly with a small, tentative smile.

"Are you alright?"

He asked softly, as if he were talking to a child, he did not know why he felt so compelled to speak so kindly to this random girl he had never met. The beautiful young woman slowly raised her head with wide eyes, before slowly nodding, her lips parting slightly as she murmurs quietly

"I…I'm fine, just a little frightened."

The frail man sighed and nodded, offering his hand as he shakily stands, watching as the sobbing woman hesitantly grasped his hand and stood up without too much trouble, which made the young man question why he felt so weak.

As the young man was about to question the girl, a thundering yet calming voice echoed throughout the porcelain hive, causing all the pale figures to freeze.

"Welcome, young angels! To the hive!"
