The Shift in the world

The sounds of swirling and the ominous crackle of lighting coming from a large wide rectangle like portal that seemed to sprang alive with color but then faded away the moment the sparks died. "Darn! Why won't this work!" A tall slender and beautiful woman said with long ears. She pulled a lever activating the wide and large rectangle portal. She heard the faint sounds of Foot steps coming from behind and another woman shouted, "They're coming! Close those doors and seal them as tightly as you can!" A small group of woman gathered around a large stone door and extended their hands creating a large transparent circle on the stone circle trying to seal the stone with molten lava. This course of action worked and it sealed the stone door shut. The woman with long ears sighed in relief but knew that she had little time left. She pulled the lever again making the same sparks of lightning that struck the walls and ground. The Elf women looked at the lever where a magic panel read "Merge." The Elf women froze and in that one moment she said a thousand curse words.
