Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 Friends X Promise

"Today's winner is—Immovable Kevin!"

"Kevin, Kevin!"

"Whoo-hoo-hoo!"

The stands were filled with cheers.

"Congratulations on advancing to the 150th floor," the referee beside him said with a smile.

Kevin returned a polite smile, patted the dust off himself, and walked out of the arena.

In the stands.

Kite silently pulled down his hat and walked out through the noisy crowd.

Soon, he saw Kevin coming out into the corridor outside.

Kevin had already spotted him and greeted him with a smile: "It's you, Kite. Are you here to watch me fight again? Honestly, what's so good about my fights? Don't you think it's a waste of time? Hahaha."

As he spoke, he naturally reached out and put his arm around the other's shoulder, as if they were good friends.

And indeed, they were. Kite did not react to Kevin's gesture, simply saying, "Haven't you also watched every single one of my fights lately, without missing a single one?"

"Hahaha." Kevin clapped the other's shoulder repeatedly.

"How can that be the same? You know, you're just pretending to be dumb."

After that fight, it took Kite only a few days to directly reach the two hundredth floor.

And now it was July 24th, more than two months since Kevin first came to fight in the arena.

Kite had also been fighting on the two hundredth floor and above for two months. Although it was a long time, in those sixty days, Kite had actually only fought six matches, which was already considered the person with the highest appearance rate recently.

Fights on the two hundredth floor and above were by appointment, with a strict requirement of fighting at least once every ninety days.

This led to the fights on the two hundredth floor and above being extremely exciting, with tickets for each match almost selling out instantly after release.

"Speaking of which, do you, as a participant, have any private tickets? You wouldn't believe how expensive tickets for the two hundredth floor and above are. Every time I have to find those damned scalpers, they're such profiteers!"

Kevin grumbled discontentedly, following Kite to his room.

As for why he didn't go to his own room, it was naturally because Kite's room was better.

Compared to the two, Kevin's single room was like a regular hotel, while the other's was a five-star hotel's presidential suite.

Listening to Kevin's words, Kite couldn't help but roll his eyes.

As a Nen User who had reached the one hundred and fiftieth floor in the arena, how could he possibly be short on money?

Although tickets for viewing on the two hundredth floor and above were expensive, they were not worth mentioning to them.

They arrived at Kite's room, and pushing open the door revealed a two-hundred-square-meter luxurious suite.

All kinds of exquisite furniture and expensive electrical equipment were placed inside.

To be honest, Kevin felt that the technological level of just these high-end electrical devices was already comparable to his former world.

"This is great, sigh, I can't live in a room like this."

Kevin plopped down into the soft sofa, sinking into it completely, and let out a comfortable sigh.

Kite picked up a wine glass, poured Kevin a fruit wine, and sat on the sofa next to him, complaining, "With your strength, you could easily reach the two hundredth floor. How much longer are you going to stay below?"

Hearing such a question, Kevin looked at Kite and couldn't help but smile: "What's the rush? You know, above the one hundred and fiftieth floor are all famous martial artists. I have to stay here for a few months. October, I estimate I'll ascend to the two hundredth floor around October."

Kite nodded. That was fine, he could wait.

He had already fought six battles on the two hundredth floor and above, with three wins and three losses.

But he still yearned for a fight with Kevin.

Because even now, having fought against Nen Users multiple times, he still felt that Kevin was challenging.

"Why are you so insistent on fighting me?" Kevin was a bit puzzled.

He had also watched dozens of matches on the two hundredth floor and above, and had a general understanding of Nen User battles.

It had to be said, it was truly like superpowers; Nen Ability was simply like having one's wishes come true.

He had seen all sorts of Nen Abilities, and of course, many of them seemed truly useless.

But there were many that made him feel his eyes light up.

However, the most important thing was that it confirmed Bisky's words: most Nen Users' foundations were truly poor.

He finally understood why Bisky had praised his use of [Gyo] at the time.

Because after so many battles, he had only discovered three Nen Users who would use [Gyo] in combat, and they only used it when they realized something was wrong midway through the fight.

And only Kite's timing and method of use were more to his liking; he would check at the slightest disturbance.

Other Nen Ability techniques were even more dismal; Kite was only slightly better. It was precisely by being slightly familiar with Nen Ability techniques that he was able to achieve three wins and three losses.

Among those who defeated Kite, few had good techniques. The only reason they won against him was that these people had already constructed their own Nen Abilities.

And Kite, using his basic Nen Ability techniques, just chopped and slashed with his sword.

Failure was normal.

Hearing Kevin's question, Kite did not hide it and said directly, "Because your Nen Ability techniques are very strong. I've only seen similar strength in my teacher."

As expected, he wasn't a self-taught rogue.

Kevin had already discovered the way to distinguish self-taught rogues: it was to see if the other party's Nen Ability techniques were solid.

Nen Users who had been taught seemed to be in no hurry to construct their own Nen Ability, but rather would only consider it after they had solidly learned the basic techniques.

"Hmm, alright. When I ascend to the two hundredth floor, I'll fight you first. Are you going to construct your own Nen Ability? If you don't by then, you might not be able to beat me."

Unexpectedly, Kite shook his head: "No, I plan to consider that after I pass my teacher's test and become his disciple."

"Is that so?" Kevin felt a bit regretful and asked again, "Then are you preparing to leave?"

The last Kite fight he watched a few days ago, Kite had almost reached a bottleneck; what he needed next was time to train and convert his gains into strength.

Continuing to participate in battles above the two hundredth floor had little meaning.

"Yes." Kite nodded.

"I need to continue working hard, pass my teacher's test, and prepare for the next Hunter Exam, which is in January next year."

This piqued Kevin's interest. He leaned his head closer and asked, "Hunter Exam? Have you participated before?"

Kite nodded: "I participated in the first half of the year. At the end of the exam, I encountered a fellow examinee who was also a Nen User. At that time, I wasn't skilled in Nen Ability combat, so I lost."

"Oh, so that's how it is." Kevin knew why the other party was here; he had been participating in battles on the two hundredth floor and above.

"Then shall we go together then? To be honest, I'm quite interested in this Hunter thing. I'll be ready by then too."

"Of course, we can go together then." It was naturally good to have a companion to participate in the exam with.

Kevin stood up and smiled, patting the other's back: "Then you'd better work hard, so you don't end up losing again like last time when you meet me."

"Heh heh, we'll see about that. I'll beat you black and blue then." Kite refused to be outdone.

"Haha, then I'll look forward to it."

"Hahahahaha."

The two peers looked at each other and laughed.
