Chapter-1 (On a rainy day)
The soft rhythm of the rain tapped against the quiet white room. A small boy sat on the bed knees pulled close to his shoulders. His name was Ren, a frail boy with pale skin, silver lashes, and eyes that shimmered with a quiet kind of loneliness.
Ren had lived more inside hospital walls than outside them. The scent of antiseptic was more familiar to him than the smell of fresh air, and the beeping of machines was his lullaby at night. He had a weak heart, kne that could stop beating at any moment if he overexerted exerted himself.
Outside the window, he watched other children running in the rain, laughing and chasing eachother through puddles. He pressed his palm to the glass, his breath fogging it slightly.
"I want to play too...", he whispered softly, his voice barely louder than the rain.
His mother entered then, carrying a tray of soup and medicine. She smiled, though the sadness in her eyes betrayed her "Ren sweetheart, it's time for your medicine".
He nodded, obediently taking the pills from her hand. The bitterness lingered in his tongue, but he didn't complain. He never did. Complaining took energy and energy was something his body couldn't afford to waste.
"Mom," Ren said after a while, looking up at her with his big, fragile eyes, "do you think...I'll ever be able to go to school like other kids?".
His mothers hand trembled slightly. She smiled again gently and practiced.
"Ofcourse, honey. When you get stronger".
Ren looked out the window again. The rain had stopped, and a faint rainbow stretched across the sky. His small lips curved into a weak smile. "Then I'll make a lots of friends", he said softly , a tiny sparkle of hope flickering in his chest.
But deep down, even at that young age, he knew his life wasn't like others.
YEARS PASSED
By the time Ren turned fifteen, he had finally convinced his parents and doctors that he was healthy enough to attend school, even if only for a few hours aa day.
They finally agreed to his request and enrolled him in a nearby school.(Spring Vale Academy)
It was his first time stepping into a classroom filled with laughter, chatter, and the rustle of notebooks.
He clutched his bag tightly, his steps hesitant as he entered. Everyone turned to look at the new student, their curious eyes scanning from head to toe.
"Everyone this is Ren Hayashi," the teacher announced "He's been homeschooled until now for health issues, so please take care of him".
Ren bowed slightly. "Hello..." he murmured shyly
Some students smiled, while some others returned totheir conversation.
But he felt one pair of eyes lingered on him longer than the others.
He saw a boy by the window, leaning lazily against the chair, staring at him intently.
When Ren's gaze accidentally met his, kaoru tilted his head slightly, lips curling into something that looked liked a smile gentle on the surface but unreadable underneath.
But Ren was innocent and he smiled back without hesitation.
That was the beginning of their. With a twisted ending no one could predict.
