Chapter 3: The Demon Revealed
Edward took a deep breath and walked toward the door at the end of the hallway.
Knock, knock, knock.
He raised his hand and knocked three times, firm but not aggressive.
A drowsy voice came from inside the room.
"Who is it?"
"It's me."
Edward's voice was flat, emotionless.
The door opened, and Lily, wearing pajamas, rubbed her eyes, looking half-asleep and confused.
"Edward? It's pretty late, what's up?"
She stepped aside, letting Edward in.
Edward slipped inside.
SLAM!
He immediately locked the door behind him.
Lily jumped at the noise and looked at him in confusion.
Edward spun around suddenly, his eyes like laser beams, locking onto her.
He bellowed at full volume.
"I know what you are, demon!"
"I could tell from the start you weren't human!"
"Now, show yourself!"
Lily tilted her head, her face full of confusion.
"Edward, have you been binge-watching those weird supernatural shows again?"
Edward scoffed, not bothering to play along with her act.
He swiftly pulled something from his pocket.
A pure silver cross!
The pure silver cross gleamed with a cold, piercing light in the dim bedroom.
The confusion on Lily's face vanished instantly.
Her face turned deathly pale in a flash, whiter than fresh snow.
Fear—pure, primal terror—exploded in her eyes.
"AHHHHH—!"
She let out a ear-splitting scream.
"Get it away!"
"Get it away from me!"
Just as Edward paused for a moment, caught off guard by her reaction...
A surge of black energy erupted from Lily's body like an explosion!
WHAM!
The silver cross was struck as if by a sledgehammer, flying from his hand and smashing hard against the wall before clattering to the floor.
Lily's expression changed.
It was savage, bloodthirsty ferocity, like a rabid animal.
She spoke slowly, deliberately, her voice sounding like it came from the depths of hell itself.
"You… figured… it… out... dear… brother!"
Edward, however, grinned, a somewhat unhinged smile.
"There we go!"
He roared, striking a dramatic superhero pose.
Edward stood sideways to Lily, one arm outstretched, index finger pointing forward like he was about to fire off a superpower.
"Activate Purification!"
Before he finished speaking, he had already lunged forward, grabbing Lily by her collar.
He actually lifted her entire body into the air with one hand!
Lily's feet kicked wildly in the air, the ferocity on her face instantly replaced by shock and disbelief.
"What the hell! Are you even human?!"
A blue-white Purification light burst forth from Edward's hand, instantly engulfing Lily like holy fire.
"AHHH—! It burns! It hurts!"
Lily let out a piercing scream, her body twisting in agony like she'd been tossed into a furnace.
"No! Stop! Please!"
"I'll do anything! Anything!"
"Who the hell are you?"
Edward's voice was cold as ice.
"Why are you possessing my sister's body?"
"Not possessing…"
Lily, amid the searing Purification, painfully squeezed out a few words through gritted teeth.
"I… I manifested physically… this IS my body…"
"I only recently… regained my power…"
Edward frowned.
"What exactly are you?"
"I… am… a demon!"
"What's your name?"
Lily clamped her mouth shut, refusing to speak.
"Won't tell?"
The light in Edward's hand intensified several notches.
"AHHH! Okay! Okay!"
She shrieked in pain, her face contorting.
"My name is Lilith!"
Edward squinted at her, looking utterly skeptical.
"Lilith? Like THE Lilith? Adam's first wife Lilith?"
"It's Lilith!!"
Lilith trembled with rage, almost hyperventilating.
"Okay, okay, sure thing, Lily-th."
Edward nodded dismissively.
[Do you wish to make her a pet?]
A system prompt suddenly appeared before his eyes.
Edward didn't even hesitate, directly selecting "Yes" with his mind.
A red collar appeared out of thin air, snapping onto Lily's neck with a click, then flashed and vanished.
Lilith froze. She touched her neck, finding nothing there.
But a sense of spiritual binding instantly broke her.
"What have you done to me! What have you done to a noble demon!"
She struggled frantically.
SLAP!
A crisp, sharp slap.
Edward slapped her with an expressionless face, his hand still glowing with faint Purification light.
The entire room fell silent.
Lilith was stunned, head tilted, her face filled with terror.
Edward withdrew his hand, staring at her coldly.
"What's your name?"
Lilith trembled all over, her expression immediately morphing into a fawning smile, her mood switching faster than a light switch.
"Master! Whatever you say is right!"
Edward let go, allowing her to drop to the ground.
He felt uneasy; his cute little sister was actually a demon named "Lilith."
"Lilith, huh."
Edward crouched down, examining her thoughtfully.
"What can you do?"
"Reporting, Master!"
Lilith immediately knelt down obediently.
"My abilities are creating fear, absorbing fear, creating illusions, and mind manipulation!"
Edward listened, then showed a look of contempt.
"That's it?"
"Lilith, your powers are pretty lame."
"If you run into someone brave, wouldn't you be completely useless?"
"With your weak skillset, did someone really go through all that trouble to bring you to the human world? You're not lying to me, are you, Lilith?"
As he spoke, a ball of blue-white Purification light slowly brightened in his palm, like a miniature sun.
Lilith panicked, waving her hands frantically.
A pitiful, pleading smile instantly plastered itself on her face.
"Big brother~ How could someone as adorable as me lie to you?"
SLAP!
Another slap.
Louder, brighter.
"Talk normal!"
Edward's voice was filled with undisguised anger and authority.
Lilith clutched her other cheek, turning her head with a wounded expression, tears welling up.
She didn't dare act cutesy anymore, speaking quickly in a professional tone:
"Master! My abilities are very powerful! Creating fear can disturb the mind; even people with strong willpower will be affected!"
"As long as they're afraid, I can absorb that fear and become stronger!"
"Illusions can make fake things seem real, perfect for sneak attacks or trapping enemies!"
"Mind manipulation can directly control people with weak willpower, making them serve me!"
