Chapter 32 - the end

Present

Lily finishes writing and shows Arjun another line:

Lily: "She was my everything… She convinced my parents to let me take up shooting, even with my disability."

Arjun: "That's not a disability. Think about it—right now, it's a superpower."

Lily looks confused.

Lily: "How?"

Arjun:

"You don't get scared by sudden sounds. And today—you were the strongest among us. You fired the first shot while we were all frozen."

Lily writes:

"And you have a special power too…"

Arjun glances at her, puzzled.

She continues writing:

"The power of never giving up."

Arjun looks even more confused.

Lily writes again:

"Ahmad didn't… leave because he gave up. He wanted to save us. You both saved us. If you hadn't come to our dorm that day, we would have stayed there—thinking we were safe.

And soon, the zombies would have broken down our door.

Don't give up so easily, Arjun. Be the Arjun you were."

Arjun looks at her—quiet, processing—and slowly stands up.

He takes a chair and moves it next to Sia, who is still trying to reach the router.

Sia: "Ahh! You scared me—why did you move the chair so suddenly?"

She realizes he's helping.

"So… you're done with your ceremony?"

Arjun ignores the comment and looks around the router.

He finds a small paper stuck underneath.

Arjun: "Type this."

He reads it aloud: "145…" (he continues the numbers)

Sia: "Oh—connection established!"

Everyone had a hopeful smile on their face except Arjun, who managed only a gentle one.

Sia: "Email the helpline, right?"

Arjun: "Yes, do it fast. The battery is low…"

Sia: "Okay, wait a minute…"

(They quickly send messages to all the helpline contacts.)

Sia: "Help will come soon now." (smiling)

Arjun: "Give it to me for a minute."

(He takes the phone and uses WhatsApp to call his mother. She picks up instantly.)

Arjun's Mom: "Arjun? What happened? Are you okay, son? Why didn't you call us for two days?"

(Hearing her voice, Arjun can't speak—he just starts crying silently.)

Arjun's Mom: "Arjun? Honey? Talk to me—"

(Sia gently takes the phone.)

Sia: "Hello, ma'am. We're stuck here… please, can you bring help? Yes—Arjun is safe. He's just… overwhelmed right now. Don't worry."

(The scene fades to black.)

news on tv

Reporter:

"A silent outbreak of a deadly virus in a sports camp last week is now under control. Almost everyone received treatment, and the vaccine is ready.

Researchers discovered an unusual pattern in the infected: the virus mutated every 12 hours, and the level of mutation differed from person to person depending on their immunity.

At first, the infected behaved like wild animals… then gradually became smarter, even using simple tools. Surprisingly, after completing this 12-hour mutation cycle repeatedly, many eventually began turning back into humans.

However, the long mutation process severely damaged their organs, causing some survivors to remain weak, while others did not survive long after returning to normal.

Scientists say this pattern mirrors the stages of human evolution — from animal-like hunters, to tool users, and then toward higher awareness.

The company behind the outbreak has now been shut down, and officials confirmed that the virus spread through contaminated energy gummies distributed at the camp."

Arjun's mom: "Remove the news! Arjun must be on TV—play that channel."

Arjun's dad: "Oh yes, today is the state competition, right?"

(He switches the channel. It's exactly Arjun's turn.)

Arjun's mom: "Oh perfect timing…!"

(They all lean in.)

Cut to the competition:

Arjun stands on the shooting line, focused. Bang! The shot echoes through the stadium.

Scene shift — audience view:

Sia is sitting with Lily in the stands.

Sia: "Oh, he's good too! Yesterday Lily bombed it, and today it's him!" (She munches popcorn.)

Lily sits forward, eyes full of excitement.

Arjun hits the target cleanly. The final score flashes. He wins.

His face lights up as he turns toward the camera, receiving the medal and holding the trophy.
