Warner's POV
"Is she okay?" Mylo asks, his voice cutting through the afternoon air.
The twins insisted on visiting my parents today, dragging us back to the ranch once again. They didn't come for Grandma and Grandpa Tiger this time though. The friends they made here are racing around the property with them, and my mother practically glows with happiness watching them play.
"She's managing the bond," I answer, glancing back at Arlene who hasn't stopped staring at the barn since we arrived. I know exactly what memories that building holds for her, and guilt twists in my gut for bringing her here. Still, no distress flows through our connection. Her emotions remain surprisingly steady. "You mentioned wanting to talk last time we spoke."
"Dad wants your head on a platter," he says, his tone careful and measured.
"I figured." I let out a harsh laugh. The old man hasn't spoken a single word to me since we walked through the door. My entire family noticed his cold shoulder treatment.
