Arlene's POV
The gazebo that had been here the day I spoke to Warner about the twins for the first time was remade into a greenhouse. The structure gleams under the moonlight with its glass panels and elegant framework. The sight fills me with unexpected joy. Plants have always been my passion, and leaving my collection behind in Paris still stings. I had no choice though, not knowing where we would eventually settle permanently. The risk was too great.
The clock has passed late into the night, and both children sleep soundly in their beds. The night air carries a slight chill, but nothing my hoodie cannot handle after my evening shower. This place holds a tranquil beauty that soothes my restless mind. Only the gentle rhythm of waves against the shore breaks the silence.
Despite his naturally quiet movements, I recognize his footsteps immediately as he emerges from the back door.
"Do you mind some company?" His attempt at stealth has become impossible now.
