Irina's POV
Buck stayed blind to the lethal look I shot him, his sneer deepening. "You don't belong to this family anymore. Get lost before I have the cops drag you away."
"Hey!" A sharp voice interrupted. Palmer screeched his bike to a halt, shooting daggers at Buck. "What gives you the right to talk to Irina like that?"
I caught how he almost slipped—nearly called me doctor. Palmer knew I hated flaunting my abilities, preferred keeping things low-key. But watching me get treated like dirt? I could see it killing him not to spill everything.
Buck sized Palmer up with obvious disgust. Pathetic. Can't even spring for a car? His smirk turned nasty as he turned back to me. "So this loser's your new meal ticket? Doesn't look like he's packing much cash."
Palmer's mouth fell open. What kind of twisted logic is this? Irina's worth more than this entire family combined. If my kid had half her talent, I'd die satisfied.
"Watch yourself," Palmer said, voice turning arctic.
