The library was always the quietest place on campus—and the only place where my head wasn't filled with whispers or strange stares.
I came here to get a reference book. Nothing special.
No other reason.
At least, that's what I thought… until I saw someone sitting in the corner seat.
Oh Bomi.
Her long brown hair fell softly over her shoulders, her eyes focused, her lips slightly pursed as she read. The warm afternoon light from the window made her look… peaceful.
I stopped without realizing it.
"…Why is she here?" I muttered.
Suddenly, Bomi looked up—our eyes meeting.
"Ah… Hanz," she said softly, almost whispering.
I nodded. "Hey."
She looked nervous, but she still smiled. "Are you… looking for a book? If you need a seat, um… you can sit here. I'm alone."
I almost declined, but something in her voice—like she genuinely hoped I'd sit—made me pause.
I pulled a chair and sat across from her.
"Studying?" I asked.
"Um… yeah. But…"
She fidgeted with her sleeve.
"…it's more like… running away from my friends."
I blinked. "Why?"
Bomi gave a small, tired smile. "They're too loud sometimes. I just want somewhere quiet."
I didn't expect someone as popular as her to speak so honestly.
"If you need quiet," I said, "the library is the best choice."
Bomi looked at me, then smiled gently—one of those soft smiles she never showed to anyone outside.
"I'm glad you're here."
Those words made me freeze.
For some reason… the silence between us didn't feel awkward.
It felt peaceful.

When I stood to get a book, two students walked by, whispering while trying not to laugh.
"…Wait, is that really Bomi with him?"
"…no way they're sitting together."
"…she's too nice, seriously."
I ignored them—like always.
But this time, Bomi looked up too… and met my eyes.
Her gaze said:
"It's okay. I'm here."
For the first time, other people's stares didn't feel so annoying.
