Why fight with a spear, you may ask. To me there were two main reasons, both the main character, Rex and the main rival of the story, Lucius use polearms, the former a scythe and the latter a spear. Therefore, they would both be in similar classes to me, meaning I would be in important events I would otherwise miss. Secondly, I know that since the spear is such a common weapon, it has many powerful fighting styles and a powerful weapon catalogue, thus allowing me some flexibility in how I can improve.

Every character in the world of Reaper had an innate element, the four classic ones (Fire, Earth, Air Water, you know the ones that lived in harmony until the Fire Nation attacked) were the most common, but slightly rarer are Ice and Lightning and the rarest were Light and Darkness. In front of me I was presented with only six choices however as Light and Darkness were not present.
"You start as an extra, why would I ever give you the super rare 'main character energy' elements as possible choices." said the god who from now I'm calling Mr. Stingy as he seemingly read my mind.
This choice was also rather simple, Lightning and Ice were rarer and Lightning was more flashy in my mind.
"I choose Lightning" I said to Mr. Stringy who seemed bored at this point.
:Now onto your final gift, I will give you anything within reason that does not increases either your power or your relevance tot the story." he said, as if he was ready to get this over with.
Upon hearing that, I felt deflated, power and relevance are what I need in the story, I had logically deduced that being an extra in the story means I was likely already wealthy as a minor noble or the child of an important merchant or adventurer since I doubt I would have entered on scholarship. So my gears started turning as I thought of my final answer.
