Chapter 8 - The Ambulance Parade

The Golden Field Stadium. Start of the Third Quarter.

Score: SF Gold Rush 21 : 0 LA Horns.

The halftime break was over. The Los Angeles Horns returned to the field.

But something was different.

The fear was gone.

In its place was a cold, desperate silence. They looked like a gang of convicts walking into a prison yard fight.

"Something's wrong," Quarterback Brock P. whispered, staring across the line. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up. "They... they don't have a formation."

He was right.

The Horns had abandoned the standard 4-3 or 3-4 defense.

Instead, all 11 defenders—including the cornerbacks and safeties who should be guarding the pass—were crowded onto the Line of Scrimmage.

They formed a solid wall of meat.

Eleven pairs of eyes locked onto one target: Number 33.

Their intent was obvious. They weren't trying to stop the ball. They were trying to stop the man. Permanently.

"Levi, I'm checking out of this," Brock hissed in the huddle. "They're headhunting. I'm throwing a screen to Deebo."

"No."

Levi cut him off. He adjusted his gloves, his eyes burning with a fire that matched the madness on the other side.

"Brock. Give me the ball. They wanna bet their lives? Fine. I haven't even finished warming up."

"But—"

"Give. Me. The. Ball." Levi's voice brooked no argument.

The Snap.

The crowd held its breath. The air felt heavy, like the calm before a tornado.

"Hut!!!"

The moment the ball moved, the Horns exploded.

All 11 players launched themselves forward simultaneously!

They ignored the receivers. They ignored the quarterback. Brock could have started dancing the Macarena and no one would have touched him.

It was a meat avalanche.

Over 2,500 pounds of angry NFL muscle collapsed toward Levi's position in the backfield.

"Oh my god! An 11-man Blitz! That's attempted murder!" The announcer screamed in horror.

Facing the incoming tsunami of bodies, Levi didn't panic.

The System interface in his mind turned blood red.

[Active Skill: Human Bowling Ball (Unstoppable Momentum)]

"COME ON!!!"

Levi caught the handoff. instead of backing away, he let out a roar that shook the stadium foundations!

He lowered his center of gravity, turning his body into a dense, unbreakable sphere of kinetic energy.

He launched himself straight at the center of the 11-man pack!

BOOOOOM—!!!!

The sound wasn't a crack. It was an explosion.

It sounded like a high-explosive grenade going off inside a butcher shop.

The turf at the impact point actually rippled.

Then, a scene played out that would be replayed on YouTube for the next hundred years.

Just like a bowling alley.

A 100mph solid steel ball smashed into the pins.

CRASH!

The first line of defense—Aaron "The Titan" Don and Bobby Wags—took the brunt of the impact.

They didn't just fall.

They were blasted backward into the air!

The shockwave rippled through the pack.

The defenders in the second and third rows didn't even know what hit them. They were knocked down by their own flying teammates or swept off their feet by the sheer force of the air pressure generated by Levi's charge.

Bodies flew. Helmets rolled.

It was chaotic, violent art.

After the dust settled...

Only one man was standing in the center of the carnage.

Levi.

He was still in his charging stance, holding the ball tight.

Surrounding him, in a five-meter radius, lay the entire Los Angeles Horns defense.

Eleven men.

All down.

Not a single one was moving.

"STRIKE!"

Levi straightened up. He looked at the field of "corpses" and mimed rolling a bowling ball, finishing with a follow-through pose.

The stadium was silent for two seconds.

Then—

"AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!"

The scream from the crowd wasn't just cheering. It was hysteria. It was the sound of 68,000 people losing their minds simultaneously.

"MEDIC!!! AMBULANCE!!! WE NEED ALL OF THEM!!"

The Referee stood amidst the wreckage, his face pale. He threw his flag, but then realized a flag wasn't enough. He waved frantically at the tunnel.

On the sideline, Dr. Sophie Vance dropped her medical kit. Clatter.

Her jaw unhinged. Her gold-rimmed glasses slid down her nose.

She wanted to rush out and help, but she was frozen by the sheer magnitude of the violence.

"That's... that's not football," she whispered, her legs trembling. "That's a natural disaster."

The Next 20 Minutes.

The game was paused.

The Golden Field Stadium hosted the infamous "Ambulance Parade."

Four ambulances drove directly onto the field.

There weren't enough stretchers. The Gold Rush bench players had to help carry the fallen Horns.

The casualty report was catastrophic:

The Titan: Fractured sternum. Bobby Wags: Broken arm.Jalen Ram (Cornerback): Severe concussion. He woke up asking the nurse if Obama was still president. The rest: Various contusions, wind knocked out, spirits crushed.

Horns Head Coach Sean Vay sat on his empty bench, staring at nothing.

He had no one left.

His defense was gone.

He couldn't even field 11 men.

Levi walked to the sideline, grabbed a water bottle, and took a swig. He looked at the camera and shrugged.

"I told them. Numbers don't matter. The more pins you set up, the more I knock down."

TWEEEEET—!

The Referee crew made a historic announcement.

"The Los Angeles Horns have forfeited due to an inability to field a legal team. The game is over!"

Final Score: SF Gold Rush 21 : 0 LA Horns (TKO).

This was the first time in history a football game ended via Physical Destruction.

As Levi walked toward the tunnel, bathed in chants of "MVP," the System pinged one last time.

Levi smirked.

Alliance?

Just more pins for the bowling alley.
