As the ship sailed away from the coast, the crew celebrated the victory, downing drinks, playing cards, eating food, and even singing.
The only ones who were not were Lucius who was praying and Johan who was laying down on the floor in the room he had been beaten in.
30 minutes later a man walked into the room that Johan was in. He had bronze skin and dark blue hair. He was wearing a white shirt, black pants, white shoes, and an emerald necklace.
"If you're going to be here, you need to know about ki."
The man spoke, his tone gentle, and caring as if he was close to Johan.
"There are some people in this world who can control their soul's energy, which in turn gives them superpowers. We call these people controllers and each controller belongs to one of the three pathways, not only that but each pathway as two movepools. The first one is fighter. These guys have the abilities to create any physical objects as well to enhance items, themselves, and even attacks later on. They gain a stat boost in all categories each time they level up, strength, speed, endurance, durability, and so on. It just boosts everything a normal person has."
"Level?"
Johan said, his face showing his puzzlement.
The man explained:
"There are levels going from 1 to hundred and each 5 to ten levels you rank up. Anyways back to the fighter pathway. They can enhance themselves further as well as they're weapons, attacks, weakness of enemies, and so on. So overall they become a better human being in all aspects when it comes to combat and create weapons as well as enhance those weapons to be better. Of course they don't gain all of that at once. It's over time as they grow in level and rank. When they start out their body, and mind are the same as a normal person's, and they can only enhance themselves, and what they hold in their hands by 0.008 times to 1.7 times. As well as only being able to create weak and simple items. The next pathway is wizard."
"Wait, Is this like a video game?"
Johan asked, his hands outward in front of him.
The bronze skinned man spoke, his voice calm and friendly.
"Yeah, that's actually why we named it like that. It's just simple to understand it in this way."
"Bruh."
"Anyways back to pathways."
The bronze man spoke again, placing his hands outfront in a simple gesture.
"Wizards is what you think of when you think of superpowers, at least for me. Wizards can create cool things as such but not limited to, beams, clones, separated spaces, and really what you think of when you think magic. They can summon people and creatures that have made a contract with or somehow have a space they can summon them from. Lastly is the rogue pathway, they can create illusion as well manipulation of themselves and others as well the second movepool they have is reaper which only lets them take something from you but the higher the value the bigger the cost."
Johan spoke after some deliberation:
"So Fighters can enhance things and create physical objects. Wizards are in simple terms, magic, and rogue trick and steal from you."
"That is correct."
The man said after hearing Johan's answer.
"But there are also a few other things.
Fighters can only create what they understand. The more understanding they have and the less complex it is the easier it would be to create the item as well as having to use less ki to do so. Of course fighters don't have a problem with this since their memory is enhanced as well. Also people can belong to more than one pathway. Paladin is a fighter and wizard. Sorcerers are wizards and rogues. Fighter and rogue is a warlock. There are also people called full range which have control over all three pathways. The last group are called anomalies. They are controllers who have the abilities not from the three pathways. There are also other things such as titles but that will be for another day."
Upon saying that he stood up from his spot and left the room.
A few minutes later, Lucius walked into the room.
"Get up, it's time to train."
He asked, while holding two katana made of wood in his hands.
"Yeah." Johan said, his face showing his anger toward Lucius.
At the next moment, Lucius threw one of the wooden swords towards Johan.
After grabbing the blade with his left hand, Johan looked towards before taking up a normal one handed stance.
"Show me."
Lucius raised his wooden sword before going into a stance.
Johan stabbed at Lucius, like last time, aiming for his waist.
Lucius parried the attack before cutting across Johan's neck with his sword causing the boy to drop his sword.
Johan felt his neck being cut but when he checked he found no wound.
"You died. Try again"
Lucius said, his tone indifferent towards the boy in front of him.
Johan picked his sword and slashed towards Lucius's chest. Lucius stepped to his left, blocking the attack before holding his blade against the right side of Johan's neck.
"Died, try again."
This went on for about 30 minutes, before Lucius left the room.
"I couldn't land a single attack." Johan said, voice showing his despair.
"Did you have to do that?"
Rodolfo said after Lucius exited the room. "I was training him. He's good enough to kill people. His cuts and thrusts aren't bad, above an intermediate level but just barely. He is mostly hard work, he doesn't really have that much talent but it's enough to where he is improving his edge alignment as well going for the hands more often as the duel went on."
"And why if he's not a fighter?"
Rodolfo said after hearing Lucius' words.
Lucius looked back at the door of the room Johan was currently in before speaking:
"Don't worry, he is one."
For the next few weeks, Lucius went to train Johan in swordsmanship. He made him do test cuts, repeat the same moves, teach him where to hit with his blade, fixed his stances, and taught how to combo while fighting. He went from not being able to parry an attack from Lucius to being able to counter attack him.
"Here"
Lucius said as he threw a katana at Johan. Its handle was black and the hand guard was circular with nothing noteworthy. The scabbard was black in color and was nothing special. Johan unsheathed the blade, its silvery blade shown to his eyes as he stared at it in a daze.
"Come."
Lucius said as he held a similar sword in his left hand in front of him.
Johan stood up holding the blade in both hands before stepping towards Lucius.
At this moment Johan attacked Lucius's blade causing the sword to go out of line. I
In the next second Johan stepped forward and slashed towards Lucius's chest in a horizontal slash going from right to left.
Before he could land the attack, Lucius stepped back and evaded the attack.
Lucius stepped forward slashed diagonally towards the left side of Johan's neck, seeing this Johan stepped backwards, and blocked it.
In the next Lucius turned his blade downwards as he repost and slashed at Johan's face.
While this was happening Johan spun his blade moving from a block into a diagonal upward slash at the right side of Lucius's neck.
Naturally Lucius's strike was going to land but when it did it phased right through Johan.
Just like last time Johan felt the slash but no wound appeared.
Lucius's eyes showed no worry or disappointment as he spoke:
"Died, but getting better."
Johan's eyes showed anger, as he thought to himself:
"You're basically telling me I won't be able to do it now."
As if sensing his thoughts, Lucius continued to speak: "But soon you will be skilled enough to defend against me in a real fight"
After this Lucius left the room, taking both blades, and placing them back into their scabbards.
"You enhanced the range of his blade."
Rodolfo said after Lucius left the room.
Lucius spoke, answering his question in a calm manner:
"If I didn't he would need to be so close to me, I could just grab the sword during his slash."
"You allowed him to attack your blade."
Rodolfo asked after some thinking. "
Yes."
Lucius answered.
"It was a trap from the start, though if he was older as well as better in swordsmanship, he could have won in that round. I'm not really a swordsman at heart as you know."
Rodolfo said mockingly: "The fact your spirit weapon is a sword tells a different story."
"Shut it, by the way do you know when we'll be landing? It's already been 3 weeks, almost a whole month already."
Lucius asked, as the swords in hands turned illusory before disappearing.
Rodolfo answered, his arms crossed around his chest:
"We'll arrive in 2 days then we'll get our prize before leaving the planet and going to the Uther nation."
The Uther nation was established in the year 2607. It was the first country outside of Earth. The reason for its existence is because the US and UK had agreed to take control of a planet with lots of natural resources. The planet was called Columbus in reference to Christopher Columbus who found the Americas.
Though the planet was able to house life, the life that was already on the planet was quite dangerous.
Most people died to animals called "Great Wolves." They were wolves that were on average, 7 feet tall and 13 long. But there are accounts of them at 40 feet tall. Like normal wolves they live in packs but they don't have a leader. Each wolf does they're separate thing, maybe at most 2 go together but when hunting they go by themselves. They live together in packs of 14, kinda like a neighborhood.
During summer they have brown coats while during winter they have pale grey ones. Normally only prey change coats during season, that lets us to ask, what calls these monsters as prey.
