Chapter 49: Wu Zhangkong: In a Way, I Am Powerful Too, Aren't I?

Suddenly joining someone else's conversation—wasn't that basically eavesdropping?

And besides, he hadn't even said anything bad about the Snow Empress! Why did Gu Yue have to get so worked up?

No matter what Jiang Chen did, Gu Yue always seemed hostile. For her, even his breathing seemed to be a crime.

"It's fine."

Gu Yue hadn't formed any ill thoughts toward the Snow Empress. Rather, she pitied her. For a "Sovereign of All Soul Beasts," her title was… hollow.

She was a supposed monarch without subjects—most soul beasts didn't even acknowledge her claim. But it didn't matter. Once her grand plan came to fruition, she would finally earn their reverence.

"Jiang Chen," Gu Yue warned coldly, "don't think that because we have a bet, you can insult me. Next time, I won't show mercy."

Her tone dripped with indignation. How dare a mere beast test the pride of the dragon race?

She didn't care that killing him would be a tragic loss for their kind. If it came to dragon dignity, she would not hesitate.

As long as she lived, the dragon race would stand unblemished.

The dragons could not be humiliated.

Jiang Chen stared at her blankly. What the hell did I even say?

Great. Now there were only two dragons left in the world—Silver Dragon King and Di Tian's Black Dragon, plus that pretentious Hell Demon Dragon somewhere.

And she was lecturing him about "dragon pride"?

Please. That era was long gone.

If it were Na'er, he thought sourly, her backside would already be sore by now.

He stayed silent, but in his mind's eye, he pictured a tiny version of Gu Yue being bullied mercilessly—tied, toyed, tormented in countless ways.

Then he felt it—a sudden chill at his back. Not the physical cold of the Snow Empress's ice, but something sharper, stabbing directly into his soul.

Gu Yue's back was turned, but he swore she had felt what he imagined.

The chill faded when he stopped. Tried again—and the air froze once more.

"Oh nice," he muttered, "a manual temperature control system. Perfect for summer."

He smirked. "What, can't recruit me so now you're eyeing the Snow Empress too? If you can deal with her heavenly tribulation, she'd worship you for life. Right, Xue'er?"

Gu Yue froze.

And instantly, she stormed into the telepathic channel shared between Jiang Chen and the Snow Empress.

What the hell was that supposed to mean?!

If she could fix the tribulation problem, she would've solved Di Tian's already!

But no—such matters were decreed by the Dragon God himself. His will wasn't to be defied. It must have its reasons.

Angry and humiliated, she kicked Jiang Chen's consciousness out of the psychic link.

Now, it was just her and Snow Empress chatting privately.

Jiang Chen didn't know what they were saying—but the freezing pain in his chest intensified tenfold.

That chill lingered long after the connection was severed.

"This is your new teacher—Wu Zhangkong, from Shrek Academy. At only thirty-one years old, he has already reached the sixty-ninth rank, a Double-Word Battle Armor Master."

Because Eastsea Academy's elite class held so many prodigies—and thanks to the Spirit Transmission Tower's generous funding—each class was assigned based on potential. A teacher of Wu Zhangkong's caliber naturally belonged to the top class.

Even though the assignment system allowed transfers, few ever managed to climb upward.

Compared to Yun Ming, who had reached the Limit Douluo realm, Wu Zhangkong might seem unimpressive.

Yet, considering he had graduated from Shrek's inner court before age twenty, his accomplishments were staggering.

He had risen fast—until tragedy struck.

After the death of his beloved Long Bing, he left Shrek early, grievously wounded and emotionally shattered, his growth forever slowed.

But once, he had been destined for greatness—Apprentice to Red Dragon Douluo Zhuo Shi, chosen candidate for Sea God Pavilion Master.

In the original timeline, he soared to Rank 97, nearly reaching godhood, even slaying a quasi-god from the Abyss.

A true prodigy among prodigies.

Remove his "Shrek background," and he was… perfection itself.

Now, on the lecture podium, Wu Zhangkong's expression was glacial.

His presence alone silenced the class, sharp and composed like a drawn sword.

"I am Wu Zhangkong," he said evenly. "Your homeroom instructor—and your combat teacher. The Director tells me you're all geniuses, the finest Eastsea has ever seen."

"Let me be clear. Your strength means nothing."

"Here, the highest of you has what? Rank 29? Then I'll suppress my level to 29—and all of you… attack at once!"

The class erupted with excitement.

This was a Shrek inner court teacher—someone from the legendary academy itself!

Even with Shrek's destruction and its relocation to Star Luo Federation, the name still carried an aura of worship.

Students from Shrek were the Titans of the Spirit Master world—the elite, the chosen few.

Shrek accepts no waste.

That motto had defined an entire culture. Joining Shrek wasn't just an opportunity—it was destiny.

Even the Spirit Transmission Tower couldn't compare. To the world, the Tower was just a place that sold soul spirits.

But Shrek? Shrek had created gods.

Who wouldn't dream of becoming one?

"Rank 29… fighting a whole class?" one student muttered. "Isn't that too arrogant?"

"Exactly!" another agreed. "There are thirty-two of us!"

And at the head of them, particularly excited, was Wei Xiaofeng—who cast a provocative look at Jiang Chen before leading a group of rowdy classmates toward the field.

Jiang Chen: "?..."

Gu Yue: "?..."

Snow Empress: "?..."

A Shrek Academy teacher… facing perhaps the most absurd class in history.

Within Eastsea Academy's modest walls gathered:

A God King's divine consciousness (Tang San) residing in a boy (Tang Wulin). The reincarnated Silver Dragon King (Gu Yue). The second-ranked of the Ten Great Ferocious Beasts (Jiang Chen, the Evil God Tiger). The third-ranked, seventy-thousand-year-old Snow Empress herself.

With such monsters sitting before him…

Wu Zhangkong, in some strange and ironic sense, really was unbelievably strong.

He just didn't know yet what kind of gods he was teaching.

"Fine then, come at me together."

Ah, Haku Kōng—truly, we salute you.
