Chapter 27 - #26

English translation:

Several hours had passed since Ronibo's fight with Derivan. The teenager was still lying unconscious in some tent.

"Maybe we should take this kid to a hospital" Ranika suggested.

"There's no need. Derivan possesses incredible regenerative abilities. He should wake up any moment now."

Just as Ronibo had said, Derivan eventually began to wake up.

"What happened, where am I, and why is my stomach bandaged?" the teenager was confused.

"I see you've finally woken up. How do you feel?"

"Fine, I'm just a bit sore. And what are you doing here, Mr. Ronibo?"

"I saved you."

Derivan tilted his head to the side, completely not understanding what Ronibo meant.

"What?"

Ronibo sat down across from his student and sighed.

"The time has come for you to learn the truth about yourself. Tell me, what is the last thing you remember?"

Derivan thought for a moment.

"Hmm… I remember part of my fight with King Dedho, but after that it's like the film just cut off."

"I understand. Listen, Derivan, you are not human. You come from a race of demons called the Shonetsu" Ronibo announced, shocking the teenager.

"What?!" Derivan couldn't believe what he had just heard. "Heh, nice joke. Now tell me the truth."

"Does my face look like I'm joking?"

"No… It's just hard for me to believe all of this" Derivan admitted.

"I'm not surprised. Listen, your true name is Yashimiro Dakero."

Derivan was startled by the surname.

"Wait, that surname belonged to Midan. Does that mean that…?"

Ronibo nodded.

"Exactly. You are Matomiro's son."

The teenager lowered his head, trying to process this information.

"How do you know this, and why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"Your father had many enemies. If they had learned of your existence, there was a high chance you would have been in danger. I wanted to tell you once you became strong enough to defend yourself" Ronibo explained.

"How did you know my father?"

"We were on the same team, and we were also best friends. He was the one who came up with the idea for those bracelets. Matomiro was aware of the danger of his nature, so he devised bracelets that suppress all choki, including demonic energy."

"I see… and did you know about my siblings?"

This time Ronibo looked surprised.

"Wait, how do you know about that?"

"Back in Silono I met Laura. At first I didn't know she was my sister. But during that incident, when Laura shielded me from a fatal attack, dying in my arms, she told me."

"So she died… I'm sorry. If only I had known, I would have defeated Kriro as quickly as possible and maybe I could have saved her…"

"There was nothing you could have done" Derivan clenched his fists. "It's my fault. I was too weak to protect her…"

"Now I understand. That's why you came to me asking for training."

"That's right."

"You probably need time to process all this, so I'll leave you alone. Get some rest" Ronibo left the tent.

Derivan sat inside the tent, still unable to believe what he had heard.

"So I really am a demon?" he thought, looking at his hand. "That was the power I used back then."

A few hours later…

The sun began to rise. Derivan was already feeling a bit better and went outside.

"Feeling better already?"

The teenager turned his gaze toward Ranika.

"Who are you, and where is Ronibo?"

"My name is Ranika. I'm a friend of that idiot. As for him, I told him to go get some food."

After a few minutes, Ronibo returned with food.

"So, Yashimiro, are you back on your feet?"

"You could say that, but for now I'd prefer you to call me Derivan. I haven't fully gotten used to my real name yet."

"I understand. All right, tell me then what were you doing in the kingdom of Dedho?"

Derivan explained the entire situation with Borner and what had happened in Kasegi.

"I could tell that guy was suspicious, but I didn't think he possessed Xenorite" Ronibo said.

"Now I understand why you were so eager to find information about him" Ranika added.

"I think it's time to move on to the next stage of your training. Derivan, I want you to go with me to a certain place."

"All right, but first we have to return to the kingdom of Dedho."

Ronibo and Ranika were surprised by the teenager's decision.

"Why do you want to go back there?"

"There's someone I have to save."

Derivan, Ronibo, and Ranika returned to Dedho, and the three of them immediately headed to the underground prison cells specifically to the one where Harry was being held.

"HARRY!"

The former king was shocked by Derivan's presence.

"You're alive? I thought you had been executed.:

"Don't worry about it. It's no longer important" the teenager approached Harry and smashed his shackles. "You're free."

Harry was confused by the whole situation.

"Free? And what about Idejak?"

Derivan smiled broadly, placing his hands behind his head.

"You don't have to worry about that anymore. I took care of him."

Harry's eyes widened at the news.

"What?! But how? He was a powerful Super-class mage!"

"What matters is that he's in the past now. You can restore the kingdom of Brekin to normal."

"You're right."

Derivan and Harry left the cells and, along the way, freed the people who had been unjustly imprisoned by Idejak.

"Wow, sir, is that the famous Ronibo?" Harry was surprised by the presence of Derivan's master.

"You know him?" Derivan didn't expect his master to be so well known.

"Of course. I've heard a lot about him from my father."

"Kid, you still don't know many things about me. Of course I'm popular especially with women" Ronibo said proudly.

"Yeah, probably only in your imagination" Ranika retorted, causing Ronibo to lower his head.

"You're always so mean to me."

"We should inform the citizens that Idejak's tyranny has ended" Harry announced, and the others agreed.

A short while later, all the residents gathered in front of the town hall, where Harry was already standing.

"For many years we lived under Idejak's tyranny. It has finally come to an end. Now that he is gone, we can restore our kingdom to order. No more dictatorship!"

The citizens began to cheer after hearing the new king's speech.

"But I wouldn't be standing here before you if it weren't for him. Step forward, Derivan."

Yashimiro stepped up to Harry. When he looked at the crowd, he noticed that some of the people were staring at him with fear.

"I would like to apologize for you seeing me in that state. Unfortunately, I cannot control my demonic power. Until recently, I wasn't even aware of it myself. But I swear that I will do everything in my power to master it and ensure that such situations never happen again."

Derivan's words convinced most of the citizens, although some still had doubts about him. Harry shook Derivan's hand in front of everyone.

"Once again, thank you very much for everything. I hope that Brekin and Kasegi will continue to live in friendly relations."

"Of course. As soon as I restore order there" he replied, finishing the last part in his thoughts.

Soon after, Derivan, Ronibo, and Ranika left the kingdom, while Harry and the citizens began rebuilding it.
