Henderson's POV
Something has shifted between Percy and me. The way he came to find me today, the intensity in his eyes when he showed me exactly how much he wanted me, feels like we've broken through some invisible barrier that kept us apart.
Kain stretches lazily in my mind, practically purring with satisfaction. The discomfort from before has completely vanished, replaced by something that felt incredible. We've adjusted to him now, and every nerve ending in my body still hums with the memory of his touch.
Which is exactly why I can't concentrate on this damn microscope. Before Percy arrived and thoroughly distracted me in the most wonderful way possible, I was already struggling with the assembly. Now it's hopeless. My hands shake slightly every time I try to focus on the tiny components.
I abandon the microscope and spend the afternoon organizing the medical supplies instead. At least I can accomplish something useful while my body slowly returns to normal.
