Henderson's POV
The warmth of recognition in Percy's eyes feels like a small victory. His apology caught me completely off guard, but I appreciated it more than he knows. Maybe he's finally beginning to see me as more than some naive girl who stumbled into his world.
The packhouse looms before us, and my stomach clenches with anticipation. This conversation is going to be brutal. These wolves carry their pride like armor, and I'm about to suggest that their precious wolves aren't invincible.
Beta Deryl intercepts us at the entrance, his expression alert. "Looks like we're gearing up for something serious. What's the situation?"
Percy's jaw tightens as he explains. "Henderson discovered silver residue in two of our wounded pack members. Since your wounds were clean, we believe Shepherd is behind this."
Deryl's eyebrows shoot up as I give him the condensed version of my theory. The implications hang heavy between us as we enter the dining hall.
