Lara's POV
The moment sparring class ended, I headed straight for Austin's room with our friends trailing behind me. My pulse still hammered from the intensity of training, but I sensed something more urgent waiting for us.
When we burst through the door, Austin sat hunched over his laptop, fingers flying across the keyboard with determined focus.
"What's got you so worked up, Rose?" Bill dropped into the nearest chair, studying Austin's tense expression.
Without looking up, Austin pulled me onto his lap, his arm circling my waist possessively. The familiar warmth of his touch should have calmed me, but his rigid posture kept me on edge.
"Alan ambushed me the second I got back," he said, his voice tight with concentration. "Apparently, he's got the whole place wired for surveillance."
Rex moved closer, peering over Austin's shoulder. "How does he even know when we're not in class?"
