workout
After Alfred left Kazimir, he went to the gymnasium to work out. He took his pre-workout shot and stepped onto one of the only functional treadmills — an inclined one powered by body weight.
Midway through his run, Egon — the current leader of the elected council, and the only other sane soldier left besides him — joined him. Egon hopped on the treadmill next to him and began speaking.
"We lost contact with the outside." egon said, cold.
"F**k! That's not a way to start a conversation."
"No, I'm serious. We lost contact with the survivor group."
"When?"
"Last signal was 3 days ago."
"How much did she give you?"
"Not enough, and now I have to convince the council with not enough."
"Any leads about the symbols?"
"No, And now we know nothing about whoever is out there."
"So, what do we do?"
"We go with what we have. I am not killing any more people."
"Keep saying it. Maybe one day it might come true."
"We won't. I'll think of something."
"You or the other guy?"
Egon was displeased by Alfred's question. He stepped off the treadmill without another word and walked out of the gym.
