That night, they camped beneath a rocky overhang. Lyra placed her shard on a stone pedestal and watched as it hovered, glowing brighter than ever.
"You can do more than just light," she murmured. "I can… shape it, move it."
She practiced, creating glowing orbs that hovered around her, weaving them through the night air. Mira's eyes widened. "You're learning fast. Faster than anyone I've seen."
Kaelen chuckled. "Don't get cocky, shard girl. This world will humble you sooner or later."
Lyra smiled faintly. She didn't care. She was learning, and that gave her hope.
