Chapter 13
As they rounded a jagged ledge, a cloaked figure blocked the path. Eyes glowing faintly red, it exuded a chill that made the hair on Lyra's neck stand on end.
"You shouldn't be here," the figure said, voice smooth and dangerous.
Lyra instinctively raised her shard, a beam of light shooting forward. The figure dodged easily and vanished into the mist with a mocking whisper: "The Veil will be mine before she awakens."
Lyra's hands trembled. This wasn't just about collecting shards—it was personal. The villain had already marked her.
