Chapter 2 - Ordinary Life is Over

A loud SMACK! echoed through Benjamin's room the moment his eyes opened.

A flip-flop bounced off his forehead and landed on his blanket.

Mother:

"YOU'RE LATE FOR SCHOOL, BENJAMIN!!"

Benjamin jerked upright, heart racing, his mind still buzzing with the fading memory of a goddess, wings, and a world in danger—

Reality hit him harder than the sandal.

Benjamin:

"I–I'm late for school!?!"

He scrambled out of bed, still half-dazed, and shouted while grabbing his bag and uniform.

Benjamin:

"MOM! WHY DIDN'T YOU WAKE ME UP EARLIER?!"

His mother appeared at the doorway, arms crossed, wearing her classic I-told-you-so

smirk.

Mother:

"Oh, I don't know… maybe because you were sleeping so peacefully? Like an angel.

And you do have a test today, right?"

Her tone was sharp enough to peel paint off the walls.

Benjamin:

"Alright, alright! I get it!"

He paused.

"…What's for lunch?"

Mother:

"On your desk, above the computer. I'll be downstairs watching TV — but hurry. It's 12:00. School starts at 12:40."

Benjamin froze.

12:00.

He moved instantly — panic alone nearly teleporting him.

He put on his clothes, grabbed his bag again, did not shower, did not eat, and shot out the door.

Behind him, his mother sighed.

Mother:

"This child… unbelievable."

---

Benjamin sprinted down the street when he spotted two familiar silhouettes ahead.

Two childhood friends.

Two disasters in human form.

Ivan — the short one. Sharp-minded, sarcastic, black-haired, and constantly bullied for his height.

A brain compressed into a smaller model.

Clard — the tall one. Rich. Blonde. Looks like a foreign model… and yet a complete dumbass.

If Ivan was the brain, Clard was the budget.

And then there was Benjamin — tall, ordinary-looking, messy black hair, plain black eyes, and glasses he depended on for survival.

A smart honor student disguised as a background character.

Together, they formed a strangely stable ecosystem.

---

Benjamin cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted.

Benjamin:

"CLARD!! IVAN!! BROTHERS!!! I'M HERE!!"

They didn't hear him. Too far.

But something else caught his eye.

Faint wisps drifting through the air — shimmering strings of light.

Like… mana?

They looked like floating lines of glowing code — shifting symbols scrolling across the air.

Benjamin blinked.

Was he still dreaming?

He scoffed it off—

Until one string drifted down and touched his hand.

A soft flash.

Space warped around him.

Countless streams of information flooded his mind in an instant.

When he opened his eyes again—

He was standing right behind his friends.

Only one thought existed in Benjamin's mind.

Teleportation.

He stared at his hand, wide-eyed — then pretended nothing happened.

Benjamin:

"BOOO, BROS!"

Ivan:

"F-FUCK—!! You scared the hell out of me!"

He clutched his chest dramatically.

Clard:

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!"

The scream was so high-pitched it could shatter windows.

Benjamin and Ivan immediately recorded him.

Clard immediately regretted existing.

Clard:

"DELETE IT!! COME BACK HERE, YOU—!!"

Furious, he chased after them.

The chase began — Benjamin laughing, Ivan wheezing, Clard sprinting like a rabid dog.

---

They burst into their classroom, interrupting the teacher mid-lecture.

Students stared in disbelief.

The teacher slowly turned — eyes glowing with the cold fury of an ancient dragon.

Teacher:

"Why are you three late?

I am in the middle of my lesson, and you dare interrupt me?

What excuse could possibly justify this?"

Clard, Ivan, Benjamin:

"We're sorry, Ma'am…"

They said it in unison.

Not heartfelt.

Students began whispering — until one girl with piercing red eyes glanced across the room.

Silence fell instantly.

---

Bro Communication (Shared Braincell Mode)

(They think in sync like idiots.)

Clard: *[It's your fault for making me mad.]*

Ivan: *[Bro, it was funny though. Why so angry? It's just a prank.]*

Benjamin: *[Yeah, relax. You're overreacting.]*

Clard: *[I'm going to kill both of you after class.]*

Ivan: *[We'll run. Right, Benjamin?]*

Benjamin: *[…Nah. I have something important to do.]*

Clard & Ivan: *[What do you mean by—]*

---

They finally sat down.

The lecture continued.

Benjamin didn't listen.

He stared at his hand like a maniac — the same hand touched by that strange mana-code.

It still tingled.

Was it really just a dream?

Or… is something happening to me?

The goddess's voice echoed faintly in his memory.

"I will give you a gift."

Benjamin swallowed.

Benjamin:

[Is this… the gift the goddess was talking

about?]

Something deep inside him stirred.

For the first time, Benjamin felt it clearly—

His "ordinary life" was officially over.

Benjamin:

"Wait, Where's my glasses?"
