Chapter 19 - CHAPTER 19 — “The Boy Who Should’ve Stayed Dead

Even monsters have a past. Gono just never talks about his.

The rain has stopped. The fog thins. The industrial zone is quiet — except for Gono, walking behind the group, hands in pockets.

Gray, Blaze, Hyung, and Null move ahead, discussing the next steps.

Gono lags behind.

Not because he's tired. But because something feels… off.

A familiar scent hits him.

Oil.Sugar candy.Burnt wires.

His eyes widen slightly — a rare crack in his usual calm.

Gono (whisper):"…No way."

A voice echoes from the shadows.

"Took you long enough to notice me, Gono."

Gono freezes.

That voice doesn't belong in this world anymore.

Not after what happened.

A silhouette steps out

Small.Thin.Wearing an oversized hoodie and bandages around the arms.

A boy.Maybe 14.Sharp eyes, tired but warm.

He smiles like he's been waiting years.

"Yo, big bro."

Gono's heart stops.

His fists clench.

"…G-Gio?"

GIO — the kid Gono once protected. The kid everyone said died in the facility fire. The kid Gono blamed himself for losing.

Alive.

Standing right there.

Gono takes a step forward, disbelief shaking his usually unbreakable voice.

"You're supposed to be dead."

Gio shrugs.

"Yeah… I was supposed to be.But someone saved me. Someone strong."

Gono stiffens.

"Who?"

Gio's smile fades.

His expression turns cold, unnatural.

"The same person you're fighting now."

Gono's breath freezes.

"The Reset Order."

GIO'S CONDITION REVEALED

Gio lifts his sleeve.

Underneath the bandages:

Black circuits pulse like veins.A mark carved into his skin glows red.

Gono's eyes go wide.

"No… They experimented on you?"

Gio lowers his arm casually.

"It made me stronger than you now."

Gono's jaw tightens.

"You were a kid. They—"

Gio interrupts, voice suddenly empty:

"They saved me.You left me."

Gono steps back as if punched.

"What? YOU KNOW THAT'S NOT—"

Gio's eyes turn red.

"Orders told me something else."

Gono:"What orders?"

Gio:"…Kill you."

THE STANDOFF

Wind blows between them.Neither moves.

Gono looks at the ground, then up at Gio with a strange softness no one has ever seen from him.

"…Gio. You were the only person I ever protected."

Gio:"And now you'll be the first person I kill."

He tightens his bandaged fists.

The air around him distorts.

Power — unstable, violent — radiates off the boy.

Gono whispers, voice shaking:

"…I don't want to fight you."

Gio smiles, twisted and sad.

"Then die easy."

THE MOMENT BEFORE IMPACT

Gio blitzes forward — faster than Kage.

Gono's hair flies back from the shockwave.

His eyes harden.

"…Damn it."

For the first time in the entire story…

Gono raises BOTH hands.

Not two hits.

Not holding back.

A stance no one alive has ever seen him use.

Gono:"If you come for me…I'll do whatever it takes to stop you."

Gio leaps—Fist glowing red—Straight toward his brother.

CLASH.

Screen cuts to black.

End.
