Chapter 147: Killing Intent
Half an hour later, the Hidden Mist leader and her Special Jonin suddenly became alert.
Hundreds of tiny needle-like spikes suddenly began forming on the cavern walls. Realizing the danger, the two immediately formed hand seals. They both used Water Release: Water Encampment Wall.
Instantly, two layers of water barriers surrounded them. The outer layer was formed by the leader, and the inner layer by the Special Jonin.

The leader and Special Jonin desperately channeled more chakra into their jutsu. The two chunin also formed hand seals.
One slammed his hands heavily on the ground. Four rock shields appeared around the leader.
The other released an electric spark that struck the Special Jonin's water barrier.
Current began flowing through the barrier, slowing down most of the stone needles that pierced the first barrier, rendering them harmless.
The four Hidden Mist ninja finally breathed a sigh of relief. However, just then, an earth spear silently and rapidly rose from the ground beneath one of the chunin.

The leader found this command a bit strange. It was the first time she had heard of such a procedure.
The leader and her remaining chunin turned around and raised their arms.

Kaito suddenly appeared on their left, firing five Air Bullets at the chunin and two at the leader.

The three chunin who were running toward them also stopped when they saw them retreat.

With only one target in front of her, the leader used Boil Release: Skilled Mist Technique, spraying hot corrosive steam at Kaito and her chunin teammate.
At the same time, Kaito's sword struck the chunin's neck, severing his head.
The leader watched this scene, her eyes filled with rage. She hoped Kaito would scream in pain from that jutsu.
However, her eyes widened. After Kaito cut off the chunin's head, a flying slash formed in the air and rushed toward her.
The flying slash was accompanied by wind, dispersing the steam. The leader recognized this as a samurai's fighting style.
