Chapter 29 - R18-Draco Malfoy SI - cap 29

"It's common sense that someone would prefer to sit in a normal chair rather than sit in an armchair where they'll be poked by a spring," Draco said, and the two girls listened attentively.

"But over time, you'll feel back pain from standing upright for long periods."

"And when you can't stand it anymore, you'll see the armchair in a different light."

"When back pain makes you uncomfortable, you'll go back to the couch and try to sit in a way that prevents the broken spring from poking you."

"You won't be sitting in a comfortable position, but you'll look for the least uncomfortable position possible," the blond man finished saying.

"You say the normal world is the normal chair and that Muggle-borns will return to the magical world," Hermione said.

"And even if they aren't treated well in the magical world, they'll find a way to live here."

"But why would they feel uncomfortable in the Muggle world?" Hermione asked.

For the young woman, it was unheard of that a Muggle-born person would feel uncomfortable in the normal world, since she had lived in it for most of her life.

But according to Draco, this situation was happening and he wanted to know why.

"From what I've gathered, there are two reasons," Draco said.

"The first one is because of its magic"

"Due to the international statute of magical secrecy, wizards and witches cannot reveal their magical abilities to anyone outside their immediate family."

"Even if they are in a relationship with a normal person, they can only inform their partners about the existence of magic after marriage."

"This forces them to hide their magical abilities most of the time when they are in the normal world."

"This makes them feel trapped in the normal world and want to return to the magical world."

Draco's words made the two women think.

The two girls imagined living without magic and had different reactions.

While Rose thought that was impossible, Hermione thought it wouldn't be so bad since she had only lived in the wizarding world for 2 months.

Of course, she was fascinated by magic and knew that she had only been in the magical world for 2 months and could imagine that in the future that might change.

"You said there were 2 reasons"

"What's the second one?" Rose asked.

"And"

"You also said that Muggle-borns even start to think less of Muggles," Hermione added.

In Hermione's opinion, it was impossible for him to despise Muggles, and even less so his parents.

But since Draco had given him good arguments, he was curious to hear it now.

"The two questions are related," Draco said, and the two girls became interested.

What would make Muggle-borns despise Muggles and want to return to the wizarding world at the same time?

"The second reason is that they spent 7 years at Hogwarts and now their lives revolve around magic."

"While their families and former friends have their lives in the normal world, obviously their conversations will revolve around the normal world."

"A Muggle-born person has spent seven years outside the normal world and will not know about many things that have happened there and will not be able to join in the conversations."

"Furthermore, the excuse they give for disappearing for 7 years is that they will be attending university abroad."

"But he won't be able to say exactly what they studied."

"Even if they claimed a false degree, they won't be able to practice any profession, and their family and friends who don't know about the magical world will think they didn't graduate and will see them as failures."

"And since they have to work to live, they will have to take low-paying jobs because they are not qualified to do anything else."

"While many of their friends went to university and many already had stable jobs or even families, they were at the same point and will feel inferior."

"Of course they have magic, 'Why would they be inferior?' they must have thought at that moment."

"In their minds, to feel better, they will think that others are inferior and not themselves."

"After all, they can do incredible things with magic, and with their gifts they should be extraordinary people."

"But since they can't demonstrate it openly, they will feel frustrated every day."

"That frustration will grow over time until it reaches a breaking point."

"At that moment they will think even less of their own family, including their parents"

"Eventually they will feel inadequate in the normal world and return to the magical world."

Draco's words made the two women think.

Especially Hermione, who could imagine herself in that situation because the blond boy perfectly described his situation.

When he decided to go to Hogwarts, he refused to go to famous universities such as Oxford and Cambridge and told his family and friends that he would go to a university abroad.

The young woman could perfectly imagine returning to the normal world and not being able to explain what she studied because logically she could not practice a profession she did not study.

In the end, they would see her as a failure, and she would have to live in the magical world, a place where someone like her is despised because of her blood status.

The young woman began to breathe heavily, entering a panic attack.

"Hermione!" Draco shouted when he was the first to notice the young woman's condition and he got up to approach her and took her shoulders.

"Hermione!" Rose cried when she realized her friend's condition, but she was too late as Draco hugged her and began rubbing her back while whispering soothing words in her ear.

"Calm down, Hermione"

"None of that will happen to you"

"You have us by your side," the blond man said softly, his words and hands rubbing her back calming the young woman.

"Draco is right"

"You're your best friend"

"None of that will happen to you," Rose said from the side, joining the hug as well.

The words and the warmth of her two friends' bodies calmed Hermione down.

Especially Draco's words, which made me feel butterflies fluttering inside my stomach.

Although Rose was her best friend and she felt happy with her words, it couldn't compare to how the blond boy's words made her feel.

Especially when he was so close, with his hands rubbing his back and his breath in his ear.

"You don't have to worry about that happening to you," Draco whispered in her ear, and Hermione nodded.

And to be in a better position, the blond man brought a chair and sat down next to the young woman, continuing to hug her.

As Draco hugged her and rubbed her back, Hermione calmed down and leaned back against his shoulder.

In that way, the two continued in that position for a few minutes, much to Rose's envy.

The girl who lived felt jealousy for the first time in her life, and she didn't like it at all.

Although Hermione was her best friend, Rose wanted to push her aside and take her place.

"Better?" Draco asked, and Hermione nodded.

Although Hermione didn't want to, Draco let go of her and returned to his seat.

Inevitably, Hermione's mind returned to what was troubling her, and she asked her two friends.

"So there's no way to improve the situation for Muggle-borns?"

"And Draco, you said that the departure of Muggle-borns wouldn't affect the wizarding world's economy."

"Why is that?"

Rose had no answer to her friend's question, so she looked at Draco and waited for him to reply.

"As I told you before, Muggle-borns eventually return to the wizarding world."

"Therefore, they associate with other wizards and witches, and most of them marry each other; therefore, their children would be considered half-breeds, and they would then mate with other wizards and witches."

"And as time goes on, the offspring will be practically pure-blooded, so in the end, Muggle-borns will be a minority of the magical population."

The blond guy's words made the two girls think, and they nodded when they saw that it made sense.

And at that moment Draco continued.

"And regarding your question about the situation of Muggle-borns..."

The two girls paid attention.

Draco had already given them a lot of information and they expected him to have an answer to this question as well.

Unfortunately for them, they wouldn't get it so easily.

"I assure you it will get better, but I can't say how."

"There are magical oaths preventing me from revealing this information to them."

???

"Magic oaths?"

"What is that?" Hermione asked.

Hermione had only been in the wizarding world for a few months and there were many things she didn't know.

Knowledge of magical oaths was one of them, and Rose began to tell him.

"Isn't it too dangerous?"

"You could lose your life or your magic!" Hermione cried in alarm as she looked at Draco.

Since Draco's protection was still in place, no one in the library besides them heard her.

"They are my family's trade secrets"

"For my own safety, I have to take these oaths," Draco said, shrugging his shoulders.

Of course, the blond man took it upon himself to write the oath and make it as detailed as possible, so he was not in danger.

"Trade secrets?"

"What do your family's trade secrets have to do with improving the situation of Muggle-borns in the wizarding world?" Hermione asked.

"Like I said, trade secrets," Draco said, shrugging.

As Hermione bit her lip, caught between her hunger for information and her concern about endangering Draco, Rose opened her eyes as she realized something.

The young redhead quickly drew Hermione over and led her aside.

"Hermione, I know what's going on"

Hermione was curious about what her friend had discovered and listened attentively.

After a minute, Hermione looked at Draco and understood what was happening.

Draco's family was very rich, and apparently they were very good at business.

If the secret of the Malfoy family's success was related to improving the situation of Muggle-borns, Rose had theorized that the Malfoy family worked with Muggle-borns.

Suddenly Hermione understood why Draco was so different from other pure-blood wizards.

The Malfoy family has to work with Muggle-borns, and he logically wasn't going to look down on them.

Although she didn't understand how the Malfoy family got rich working with Muggle-borns, for Hermione it was enough to know that the situation of Muggle-borns would improve in the future.

But knowing that Draco couldn't say anything because of the magical oath, Hermione didn't ask any more questions and trusted him.

Of course, the young woman fell even more in love with the blond man.

But she quickly looked away when she realized what she had done, and quickly looked for a topic to talk about.

"So…"

"What spell did you cast to divert everyone's attention?" the young woman asked, looking at the other students in the library, who hadn't noticed them at all.

Rose was also interested, so she also looked at Draco.

Unfortunately for them, they were once again going to be left wondering.

"It's a family spell," said the blond man.

"It's unfair," said Hermione.

The young woman had already spoken about this with her friend before, and she knew that many families had secret spells that she would not be able to learn.

Looking at the young woman pouting, Draco smiled and wanted to play a joke on her.

"If you really want to learn that spell, there is a way."

"Really?" Hermione asked.

Beside her, Rose also paid attention because she knew that familiar spells were not given outside the family, and she wondered how Draco would allow Hermione to learn one of them.

"Yes," said Draco.

"If you marry a member of the Malfoy family, you'll naturally be able to learn that spell," the blond man said with a smile.

And Hermione's face turned completely red.
