Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Adorable Little Bunny

Holly Sawyer opened her eyes in confusion, looking at the unfamiliar surroundings. Her body shivered involuntarily as she carefully surveyed this strange place.

"Awake?"

Leo Grant looked at the awakened girl, his tone icy cold, devoid of any extra warmth.

"Brother, where is this place?"

Holly's voice was soft and tender. She clutched the quilt with both hands, looking timid and shy.

She was very cute, with fair and tender skin, a fringe of air bangs, a baby face, big eyes, and two little braids, resembling an adorable doll.

"Hmm." Leo's voice was very indifferent, "What's your name and where do you live?"

"I..."

Holly clutched the quilt, biting her lip tightly, appearing particularly pained, her eyes blinking, tears welling up inside.

Leo remained silent, quietly watching the young girl.

"I don't know, I only know my name is... Holly Sawyer."

Holly held her head with both hands, looking very pained, her voice soft and tender, most endearing.

Leo furrowed his brow, looking at the adorable girl before him. His tone couldn't help but soften, "Think carefully, it's okay if you can't remember; I'll help you find your family."

He had found Holly, fainted in front of his car. He almost hit her and seeing her pass out, he brought her home, called a private doctor who said she was only suffering from heatstroke and wasn't in serious danger.

Holly held her head with both hands, closed her eyes, a pained expression on her brow, seemingly racking her brains to remember.

"Brother, I can't remember... I don't know anything..."

Holly opened her eyes, uneasily clutching the quilt, lightly biting her lip, carefully watching Leo, scared and timid.

Leo, feeling helpless, called for the family doctor.

"Young Master, this might be... amnesia caused by heatstroke."

The family doctor came in and examined Holly; all the indicators were normal. He couldn't pinpoint the root of the girl's amnesia but explained nonetheless.

Leo asked: "When can she recover?"

"That's hard to say, it could be as short as a month, or as long as a year or two."

The family doctor answered truthfully.

"You can leave now."

Leo massaged his temples and waved him off.

"Take your medicine obediently, after you take it, I'll take you home."

Leo held a capsule in his hand, offering it to Holly, his tone less cold.

Holly looked at the capsule in Leo's hand and shook her head vigorously, gently pulling the quilt over her mouth, her eyes like sparkling grapes watching Leo, her face filled with refusal.

Leo chuckled at the girl's actions, "Don't want to take medicine?"

Holly nodded like a chick pecking at rice.

Leo asked again, "Afraid it's bitter?"

Holly continued nodding.

"It's not bitter, just swallow it with water and it'll be fine."

Leo softly coaxed the little girl, who looked so naive and adorable that he couldn't help but soften.

Though still fearful, Holly timorously looked at Leo, then hid her head under the quilt.

Leo: "..."

This little girl is truly timid.

"After you take the medicine, eat some candy, and it won't be bitter."

Leo reached out to pull Holly's quilt; a piece of chocolate lay quietly in his palm.

"Mm... okay."

Holly seemed to hesitate for a moment, then slowly sat up, cautious in her movements.

She accepted the water and capsule from Leo's hand, wrinkling her little face into a look of pitiful distress.

"Brother, candy."

After much difficulty swallowing the capsule, she timidly extended her hand to Leo, her voice soft and tender.

Leo placed the chocolate in Holly's hand. Looking at the chocolate in her hand, a satisfied smile spread across Holly's face.

——

Leo took Holly to the police station. Holly timidly hid behind Leo, her wide eyes examining the station's setup, her fingers tightly gripping the corner of her clothes, extremely nervous.

"Young Master Grant, we'll definitely help find this little girl's family, don't worry."

The police chief respectfully assured Leo, a smile filling his face.

"Hmm, thank you."

Leo nodded.

"Stay here and wait patiently, we'll help you find your family."

Leo turned, speaking gently to the young girl.

The young girl nodded slightly in understanding, then shook her head again, biting her lip, confused, looking at Leo.

"Take care of her for me, I have something to attend to first."

Leo brought the girl from behind him to the front, speaking to the police chief.

"Brother, I'm scared..."

Holly tilted her head slightly upward, looking at Leo, her eyes watery, appearing pitiful.

"It's okay, stay here and wait obediently."

Leo reached out, gently stroked Holly's head, speaking softly.

The sweet, tender little girl there, Leo felt that speaking harshly to her was a sin.

"Brother..."

As Leo turned to leave, Holly hurriedly grabbed the corner of his coat, her eyes welling up with tears, as if she were about to cry.

"I'm scared..."

Holly bit her lip, lowering her head slightly, her left hand uneasily twisting the corner of her coat, her right hand clutching Leo's clothing.

"Little girl, we're all good people, we're the police, we'll help you find your family, don't be scared, okay?"

The police chief looked at the petrified young girl, speaking softly. The police didn't seem that scary, right?

This little girl's about-to-cry look made it seem as if they had bullied her instead.

Holly shook her head, her grip on Leo's coat tightening even more.

"Brother, I don't want to find my family, I'm really scared."

Holly gazed up at Leo. Her eyes filled with fear, she tightly gripped Leo's clothing.

"There, there, your family will be worried."

Leo bent down slightly, speaking softly.

"The first person I saw when I opened my eyes was Brother. Please don't leave Holly, okay? I'm scared."

Holly shook her head, clutching Leo's clothes tightly, her eyes, dark as grapes, flickering with confusion and disorientation.

She seemed to believe Leo was the person closest to her.

Looking into the girl's eyes, Leo's heart instantly softened, "Want to go home with Brother, hmm?"

Holly nodded like a chick pecking at rice.

"All right, Brother will take you home. When Holly remembers, then you can go home on your own, okay?"

Leo gently caressed the girl's head.

"Okay."

The young girl immediately beamed, her brows and eyes smiling brightly.

And so, the police chief saw Leo leading the young girl out of the police station. The little girl clung to the corner of Leo's coat, appearing particularly petite and delightful beside him.
