A moment later, I walked out the door.
My expression became increasingly bewildered.
Teacher Richardson had said her parents were ordinary people, but if they were truly ordinary, how could they be entangled with overseas Chinese gangs?
"It's really baffling!"
I muttered, returning to the car.
Sullivan Richardson immediately lunged forward, her delicate hands frantically searching me; urgently she asked, "Are you alright? Are you hurt? Was that gunfire just now?"
I was instantly embarrassed and quickly replied, "It's nothing, really nothing!"
After checking for wounds and confirming there were none, she breathed a sigh of relief and sat back.
Then, with a blush and lowered head, she whispered hesitantly, "I'm just glad you're alright. You have no idea how worried I was."
I cleared my throat softly, serious as I said, "Teacher Richardson, are you absolutely sure your parents are ordinary people?"
