Sitting on the couch, Ember looked at Cassandra. She pondered what she should talk to her about. If she were honest, she wasn't particularly curious about anything that had happened to her. But some kind of entertainment was better than none.
If the story was interesting enough, she might get her to join the base. As long as she did not bring the annoying woman with her.
"So, what have you been up to?" Ember asked casually. She pulled out some snacks from one of the bags she brought with her. She threw one to Cassandra, who stared at her, shocked. "Hurry up and eat it."
She waited until Cassandra started eating before asking again. "Well, are you going to tell me?"
"I...", Cassandra paused. "It was hard when it happened. That night, the sky turned black. At first, I thought it was some kind of weird eclipse. I was out with friends when it happened. We were having fun when suddenly this sonic blare made everyone faint."
