Chapter 1 - Risa

The patient is a woman around 30 years old. A victim of a traffic accident, she was with her two-year-old son when another car collided with theirs.

"Doctor, the baby has a fractured rib; we must take him to emergency surgery," said the nurse, heading towards the trauma ward.

"I'll take care of the mother! She suffered a very strong blow to the head and has persistent bleeding. I'll stabilize the patient first and then I'll take care of the baby," said Risa while applying a compress to stop the bleeding.

...

I should have gotten used to this type of accident by now, especially with children. Maybe I'm not so sentimental in front of people; I don't want them to feel insecure, because after all, I'm a doctor, and I must always be professional.

"Doctor Risa?" said the nurse, looking at me doubtfully.

"Yes?"

"The baby is ready for surgery, and the mother is already stabilized."

Said the nurse with a slight smile on his face.

"Great. Let's save another life, then,"

Said Risa as she put on her usual blue cap.

It's been 10 years since I left my hometown to try a new life, away from friends and the customs I left behind.

Even though I came from a rich family, I never liked being compared to a spoiled girl; I was always hardworking since high school. I always wanted to be a doctor; saving lives had always been my destiny.

Even if leaving everything behind was against my will, I had to make that "small" sacrifice. It was my life and my future that were at stake. Maybe it was better this way.

...

"Director Soa?" said the male voice, calling me urgently.

"Yes, Win, do you have any ideas today?" I said excitedly.

"Actually, I didn't have any ideas for the campaign, but I was thinking about one thing," the young man said, looking at me confusedly.

"And what made you confused, Win?" I said, looking at a fixed point.

"Why did the director not accept the marketing campaign about the LGBTQ+ wedding?"

"Hm?" I replied, a little distracted. "Well, it wasn't the right time to do that sort of thing. In our company, we have many conservative investors. I think it would scare people a bit..."

I continued speaking while taking some notes. "I don't care about it! But since I've only been managing this place for about 3 years, I thought it was better to hold off for now." When I finished speaking, everyone was watching me attentively.

"Wow! That's why the director is so good at what she does." The young man said happily. "I thought there was some other reason..." The young man paused and looked at Soa, "That the director had some kind of prejudice," he said in an expressive tone.

"PREJUDICE? Me?" Soa continued talking. "I just thought that, when I read about the campaign, the commercial was based on a relationship between two teenage girls." Soa thought for a bit and continued speaking. "Not everyone is tolerant. And when we made the campaign teaser, I watched it and..." Soa suddenly stopped speaking. "It's better if we go home; today was a long day."

"Oh no! Why don't you finish speaking? Now I wanted to know too! What is she talking about? It was just a campaign?" said the complaining voices.

"That's enough for today!" said Soa, leading the way and getting up to leave.

"We'll be back tomorrow. Don't be late! Get home safely." Soa said, saying goodbye and getting into her car.
