"Huh?" Aries blinked, his brows drawing together in confusion.
What was he talking about?
The man continued anyway, his voice even and unhurried. "You are the king's cherished human, right?"
Aries nodded quickly, almost too quickly, his heart swelling with a rush of relief. Someone finally noticed. Finally, someone had recognized who he was. That was something of joy, but why was he feeling uneasy somehow? He just felt like something isn't right.
And Cedric, hearing the man's words, brows shot upward. His gaze swept over Aries again and again, slow and unapologetic.
"I didn't know this was how they were meant to look," Cedric muttered under his breath. "I thought he was deformed."
"What?!" Aries snapped, spinning toward Cedric, anger flaring hot in his chest.
The fact that he had chased after him and called him a thief was already annoying enough but then, he, deformed? It made Aries laugh maniacally inwardly.
