Victor's POV
Heaven tastes like Aria's lips against mine. Her body melts into me, awakening parts of my soul I believed were forever lost. My wolf stirs beneath the surface, fighting against the invisible bonds that hold him captive. The darkness coursing through my veins pushes back, forcing him into submission once more. A whimper escapes me as the war rages within, threatening to split me in two.
A voice cuts through the moment, calling her name. I ignore it completely until she tears herself away from our kiss, her eyes wide with horror as she stares down the alley. Her protector stands there, gleaming armor catching the light, his hand already reaching for his sword. He looks ready to cut me down for daring to touch a sacred Daughter of the Moon.
His fury only makes me grin wider. After what just passed between us, there's no chance she'll return to that cold temple. She's mine now. He advances with measured steps, and I know I can't allow him to get any closer to her.
