Veronica's POV
Facing Caspian's denials, I felt nothing but disgust watching him squirm under my accusations, desperately trying to appear composed.
"Absolutely not! Veronica, Carl's my flesh and blood. Why wouldn't I be frantic about him going missing? See how my hair's gone gray from the worry!"
Caspian protested, putting on his concerned father act.
I let out a bitter laugh. "When I track down my brother, everything will be exposed! Just you wait!"
I wasn't about to waste more time on his lies. Without another look at Caspian, I headed straight downstairs. Nobody moved to block my path; Whitney and Liana shot daggers at me with their eyes, clearly hoping I'd vanish already.
At the bottom of the stairs, I bumped into Jade hobbling with her walking stick. The moment she spotted me, she spoke up. "Veronica, your sister mentions you're earning good money now, dressed in designer labels. You've even landed yourself a Nelson marriage. So why'd you show up empty-handed today?"
