Leonardo's POV
"Once your eyes heal up, get close to Mindy. Maybe you can dig up something about the kids through her."
I frowned at the suggestion. "You're saying I should turn on the charm?"
"Only if we're desperate. But if it works, why not?" Veronica drew a steady breath. "From what I've seen, Miss Mindy had her eye on you before. So if you make a move, you'll probably have the best shot."
"..."
I considered it for a beat, then gave a nod. "Fine. Nothing worthwhile comes without risk. I'll handle tracking down our daughter. Trust me—if she's really ours, I'll find her."
I rested my hand on Veronica's shoulder, my voice firm and unwavering.
All these years, I'd failed Veronica and the kids. Time to man up and fix that.
"Okay," Veronica nodded, and I could see my words had gotten through to her. The weight seemed to lift from her shoulders—like she finally had backup in this fight.
