Leonardo's POV
"I'll kiss you until you spill the truth!" I declared with unwavering resolve.
Veronica let out a dismissive snort. "My son's right here. Don't you dare get out of line!"
The tension between us was thick, and Joseph picked up on it immediately. Assuming I was giving his mom a hard time, the little warrior's temper flared.
He latched onto my leg and unleashed a barrage of tiny punches and kicks with his small hands and feet.
Defending Mommy was his holy duty!
I glanced down at my son, who was fighting tooth and nail to shield Veronica. Irritation bubbled up inside me.
Years I'd spent raising this kid, and here he was, betraying me right to my face and siding with his mother!
I exhaled heavily, releasing Veronica and prying Joseph off my leg.
"Come on, Joseph, we were just playing around. I'd never hurt your mom. I adore her way too much!"
Joseph tilted his little face up, hands planted firmly on his hips, his expression livid. He clearly wasn't buying it.
