Veronica's POV
While Leonardo and I were both lost in our thoughts, Juliana strutted back into the room.
"Oh, everyone's gathered here?"
Juliana's eyes swept across the crowded room, her curiosity obvious.
"What's happening? Why do you all look so gloomy? Did nobody sleep last night? I caught the news and heard the Nelson family had some fire incident. Is that actually true?"
"Obviously it's true!" Hanna responded, appearing completely unbothered.
"I heard the old woman's place got torched. Anyone end up dead?" Juliana pressed, fishing for details.
I watched Leonardo's patience snap. His voice turned ice-cold. "Sounds like you're hoping someone died, aren't you?"
"What's your problem, Second Nephew? So hostile! I just wanted to check if the old bat was still breathing. If she croaked, wouldn't that mean I'd get my piece of the inheritance?" Juliana shot back without shame, not showing even a trace of guilt.
Leonardo's anger flared. "Get this lunatic out of my sight!"
