"How would I know? Your mother refused to say anything, even when she was dying!"
When Caspian brought this up, his face turned an ugly shade of green. If it wasn't about saving face, would he have put up with all this for so long?
"Fine, let's say everything you told me is true. Then answer me this—why did you only get rid of my brother but keep me here with The Bogart Family? Why not send us both away?"
"You're a girl. That makes it different."
Caspian let out a heavy breath.
Since I was a girl, I didn't threaten him much. Plus, keeping me around helped him smoothly take over all The Bogart Family business.
So that's the real story!
Now that I knew the truth, I didn't have to feel disgusted about having Bogart blood in my veins anymore.
I had zero connection to Caspian now—I should be celebrating!
But what he did to my brother? That I couldn't forgive!
