Time passes in a blur, and suddenly it is Thursday. On a normal day, I would be excited for choir practice, but this morning I have to force myself to get out of bed. Part of me wants to cancel. If I did, then Anderson and I would have no reason to speak to each other again. Even though that sounds good, I love music too much to let him keep me away.
While I am eating breakfast, Sophie made strawberry pancakes, Jade calls. Once I hang up, I put my phone down. Jade is not coming to school today. That means I have to get a ride with my dad, or something much worse, Anderson. I would rather eat dirt.
And right on cue, Anderson walks into the dining room. He sits down across from me with his own plate of pancakes and a glass of milk. I can feel the warmth from his body even from here. Did he have to sit so close? His leg brushes against mine under the table, and I almost leap out of my chair. He is trying to get under my skin.
