And in the silence of his exile, the Light-Bearer looked upon the favored creatures of the clay, and his spirit was moved to contempt.
And he spoke unto the heavens, saying: "Is this the Final Work? Feeble and blind, they stumble through life, unaware of your glory. They do not know your face. They have not seen the paradise you created. They are nothing."
But The Divine was silent so that the Light-Bearer said: "What wisdom is this? What logic prizes the fleeting spark over the eternal flame? We, who knew the shape of Your thought, who danced in the radiance of Your presence—we are made outcasts for their sake."
He said again: "They are nothing."
But, once more, The Divine was silent and there was no sound but the breath of the sleeping beast.
Thus, Lucifer said: "You are blind. You are cruel. To create a masterpiece, then banish it for carrying out its one mandate."
