Bernadette had a strong feeling that she would gain something from getting involved in Odis's next move.
So she first went to Odis's laboratory in the suburbs, and then, following the address Odis gave her, she took him to 77 Hilton Avenue.
Odis knew that although Bernadette had appeared to have left, she was still watching him.
He made no attempt to hide it, and went to the basement to put on the "leader's" clothes. He guessed that Bernadette already knew he was the "leader" through the "invisible servants".
Using the "teleportation array" in the basement, they arrived at No. 199 Hairun Avenue.
Upon entering the basement, Odis heard what sounded like a fight coming from the direction of the living room. He was slightly taken aback, as this was the first time someone had ever come to his door to fight.
He drew his pistol and rushed to the living room, where he saw five intruders. He had already subdued two waiters and was fighting with a stranger, who was about to be subdued as well.
Odis fired a shot that struck the ground at the feet of one of the intruders.
Whew~
A small fireball ignited on the ground, but it quickly went out because there was no more flammable material.
The sudden gunshot startled all five intruders.
Odis pointed his gun at them: "Exactly five bullets left."
Kapin's men were suddenly ordered to pursue him today. They didn't have time to bring their guns, so they slowly raised their hands.
Odis said to the stranger, "Use their belts to tie their hands."
The stranger immediately stepped forward, seemingly quite adept at it, and quickly tied the man up. Odis continued to point his gun at the intruder and asked the waiter, "What do you want by signaling me?"
Based on the theory that spirituality exists in a wave-like form, Odis, referencing the principles of communication equipment from before his time travel, invented a signal transmitter.
When the waiter presses the button, Odis's modified pocket watch will light up.
However, it can only transmit such simple signals at present, and cannot transmit information such as voice or images, or even coded information such as telegrams.
The two waiters were only knocked to the ground; an intruder cornered them, but they weren't seriously injured.
Just then, one of them, clutching his stomach, and the other, limping, came over. Just as they were about to report to the "leader," the stranger spoke first: "Hello, 'leader,' I am Baker, 'Lion's' assistant. I've come to ask for 'Lion's' help."
Odis looked at the stranger: "The 'Lion' was captured by Capin's men?"
He thought to himself: When is Klein planning to make his move? And why hasn't Kapin been killed off yet?
"Yes." Baker breathed a sigh of relief, which saved him the trouble of explaining.
After thinking for a second or two, Odis handed the gun to one of the waiters: "Keep an eye on them. Shoot anyone who moves."
Then he asked another waiter to call the police.
Finally, he said to Baker, "Wait a moment, I'll go get some weapons."
Seeing that the "leader" readily agreed, Baker finally breathed a sigh of relief: "Thank you for your help."
Odis strode into the basement, activating the magic circle he carried with him as he asked, "Are you still there?"
A soft voice said, "Yes."
That's good.
Odis infused the magic circle with spiritual energy and retrieved seven cold weapons from the "Wilderness of Knowledge".
He knew that Bernadette would definitely be able to sense the special nature of this magic circle, but at her level, she certainly wouldn't be able to see that this magic circle was related to the "Wilderness of Knowledge".
Sure enough, Bernadette said, "This spatial array is also very special."
"Of course." Odis pretended not to care and put away the magic circle drawn on the cloth, then quickly went to the living room with his weapon and put it in a leather suitcase.
They called Beck, and the two of them boarded a horse-drawn carriage and headed to the Backlund Mechanical Research Society.
On the carriage, Odis opened the leather trunk to examine the seven weapons: a sword, a knife, an exquisite metal crossbow, 20 fine arrows, two axes of different colors and not very large, a metal gauntlet, and an ebony cane.
This is a weapon that Odis considered and believed could be used in different situations.
He didn't bring the "Flaming Arrow" because this time he was going to rely on the power of the "Mechanical Heart," a gun that Marich had used before.
As Odis examined the weapons, he asked Baker about the time the "lion" was captured and some other details.
"We're about to find a lead on the buyer," Baker recounted. "The buyer of the slaves is very mysterious. We've been investigating for a week, but we haven't found any clues yet."
"But during today's surveillance, Mr. Byron... oh, I mean 'Lion,' noticed something amiss in the 'slave warehouse' and thought he would find out who the buyer was today?"
"But we were discovered by them. We were hiding so well, and we weren't found for so long..."
Odis glanced at Baker, who looked somewhat puzzled, and thought to herself: It's very likely that you were discovered because the buyer noticed something was wrong.
Soon, the carriage arrived at the Backlund Mechanical Research Society. Odis, holding a cane, asked Backlund to wait outside with a leather case containing weapons.
After entering the Backlund Mechanical Research Society, Odis quickly found Max and explained the situation before saying, "I would like to borrow a carriage from 'Heart of the Machine'."
"Okay," Max said, "I'll send two people…"
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
Kapin's reputation wasn't good throughout Backlund, and "Mechanical Heart" was happy to help him out.
"No need," Odis refused. "I'll go and negotiate with Capin first. If that doesn't work, then you can step in."
"Alright, this way we all have room for maneuver." Max said, and immediately ordered someone to prepare a carriage.
Having boarded the carriage adorned with the "Mechanical Holy Emblem," Odis sat quietly inside, heading towards Capin's residence.
Baker couldn't help but ask, "'Chief,' you...you couldn't find reinforcements just now?"
"Found it," Odis said calmly. The "Mechanical Emblem" on the carriage was the greatest reinforcement.
Moreover, with Bernadette by her side, there's no danger.
"But...but..."
Odis smiled and said, "Relax, the three of us are enough."
Bell was taken aback and looked at Odis: "Three people?"
There are clearly only two people here, does that include the coachman? Are the coachmen from the Mechanical Research Society that skilled?
Odis offered no explanation and simply closed his eyes to rest.
After about half an hour's journey, the carriage arrived at a villa with an iron gate, which was Kapin's residence.
It was already dark by then. Odis rubbed his stomach; he was starving, but hadn't had time to eat.
Several guards outside the gate stopped the carriage. Odis opened the carriage window and said, "I want to see your leader, Capin."
A guard approached politely and asked, "Sir, may I ask your name? Also, would you like to remove your mask?"
"'Leader,'" Odis added, "I won't take off the mask."
"Chief? Never heard of him." The guard's attitude changed: "Take off your mask before I report to him."
Odis picked up her cane and handed the suitcase to Baker: "I should have known better than to waste my breath talking to them."
He paused and then said, "You will follow behind in the carriage in a little while."
Before Baker could react, Odis had already gotten out of the car: "Don't you know how to protect other people's privacy?"
As he spoke, he kicked the guard away, sending him flying into the iron gate.
