Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 Information Deal with the Hanged Man

Besides "The Fool" Klein, "The Hanged Man" Alger was also surprised by the "maintenance" part that "The Hermit" mentioned.

Generally speaking, extraordinary weapons are those crafted by artisans using spiritual materials. Their characteristic is that they possess a certain level of extraordinary ability, though not a very high one. For example, the "Flaming Arrow" fires a projectile that isn't even a fireball; it's merely a cluster of fire.

Because it uses spiritual materials, it involves the issue of spiritual loss, so it can generally only be used for a year and a half, or even less.

The last characteristic is that it has virtually no negative effects. This is because it does not use any extraordinary properties, and spiritual materials do not produce negative effects, so ordinary people can also use it.

Sealed artifacts generally possess extraordinary properties, and these properties can cause negative effects when distorted. The only difference lies in the degree of danger of these negative effects.

The concepts of sealed artifacts and magical items are similar, except that sealed artifacts are mostly items formed after the death of extraordinary beings or extraordinary creatures, or items formed under specific circumstances.

There are two concepts of magical items: one is the term used by wild extraordinary beings to refer to sealed objects, and the other is extraordinary items created by "artisans" using extraordinary properties.

Whether it's a sealed artifact, a magical item, or an extraordinary weapon, there's no concept of "maintenance." The description of the "Hermit" surprised and puzzled Klein and Alger, and the usable time seemed a bit too long.

Alger couldn't help but ask, "Extraordinary weapons can be maintained?"

"Justice" Audrey and "Magician" Fors only knew the relevant concepts, but had little experience with extraordinary weapons and were not quite aware of what was so surprising about them.

"The Sun" Derrick did have the relevant knowledge, but he didn't like to argue and only intended to listen quietly without asking any questions.

"The Hermit" Odis smiled and said, "This is a trade secret, I cannot disclose it."

He paused and then said, "The lifespan I mentioned is a very cautious estimate. It should last longer, and even if it is damaged, it can be overhauled."

"The premise is that major repairs require a certain amount of money, and regular maintenance is also necessary."

Alger frowned, but didn't ask any further questions. He thought to himself: This new member is no ordinary person!

Klein recalled what the "Hermit" had said before: his research on extraordinary weapons had attracted the attention of that powerful and mysterious woman.

He now realizes that it was an absolutely groundbreaking study in the field of mysticism.

He then began to consider whether to purchase this extraordinary weapon, as the Hermit's offer was theoretically reasonable.

Generally speaking, a weapon with a Sequence 7 extraordinary ability is worth at least 600 to 800 pounds.

It can also create "holy water" and has a passive skill. 1200 pounds is not expensive, or rather, there is almost no premium.

However, the subsequent maintenance costs £150 per year! That's £750 over five years. In that case, it's better to buy a magical item, which will definitely be more expensive, but you won't need to spend money on it afterward.

However, this extraordinary weapon has exceeded the standard of a normal extraordinary weapon; it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call it a magical item, and it also has no negative effects.

The key point is that Klein can afford it at this price right now.

After a moment's hesitation, Klein manipulated the "world" and said, "I'll think about it."

Odis hummed in agreement.

Alger smiled and tentatively asked, "Mr. Hermit, if I need any extraordinary weapons or magical items, may I directly initiate a trade with you?"

Odis also showed a similar expression to Alger, smiling politely: "That depends on what I have on hand."

He knew perfectly well that the "Hanged Man" was testing him with extraordinary weapons and magical items. If he could make both of these things, he must be a "craftsman" without a doubt. So Odis gave a deceptive answer.

Alger frowned slightly; the "hermit's" answer did not help him make any further judgments.

Klein, behind the gray fog, thought to himself: Another "old hand" has joined the group.

cough cough~

Alger cleared his throat and started a new topic: "I recently took on an investigation mission, and I wonder if you have any relevant leads."

"In the past two or three years, many indigenous tribes in the Southern Continent have been plundered and all their people have been kidnapped. In various plantations and islands at sea, some slaves have also strangely escaped."

"Since the Northern Continent abolished the slave trade, such things haven't happened for a long time. Have you heard any rumors about it?"

Audrey, Fors, and "The World" all stated that they had not heard of anything like it.

Derrick is trapped in the "Forsaken Land" and cannot possibly know what is happening outside.

Odis recalled the speech given by "Lion," a participant, at the occult research conference two days earlier.

After thinking about it for a moment, he felt that this was information that could be traded, since "The Hanged Man" was a mission he received from the church.

The commission received by "Lion" and others is very likely issued by other major powers using forces they secretly support in Backlund, and the two are not contradictory.

So Odis said, "I may have the information you need."

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

The other members were slightly taken aback. Klein thought to himself, "The Hermit's channels are very wide!"

When Alger saw that the "hermit" did not continue, he immediately understood: "If it is the information I need, it is worth between 30 and 60 pounds."

Odis said, "50 pounds!"

If it's not agreed upon beforehand, it will definitely only be 30 pounds, not 60 pounds.

Alger sensed the new member's experience: "Okay, but it might not be ready until next week."

He would receive the money from the church, so there was no haggling.

Then he added, "With Mr. Fool's testimony, I will not renege on my debt."

Odis hummed in agreement and said, "I believe in Mr. Fool."

He paused and then said, "I only received the news a couple of days ago that many homeless people have mysteriously disappeared in the eastern part of Backlund."

Odis didn't give anyone else a chance to ask questions, and immediately followed up: "It can be confirmed that the homeless people did not disappear under normal circumstances."

"Because someone posted a task to find the whereabouts of those homeless people, four people I know accepted such a task."

Finally, he said seriously, "Their professions are very different."

Some are private investigators, some are wild extraordinary individuals who make a living with extraordinary powers, and some are cult members.

Alger understood the meaning of "the hermit." This search mission in Backlund was very unusual. Then he wondered: Why did I also receive such a mission at this time? What is the connection between my mission and the disappearance of people in Backlund?

Thinking of this, he said to the "hermit," "This information is worth 50 pounds!"

Listening to the two's discussion, Fors realized what was going on: "Is someone committing a large-scale kidnapping crime? What do they want those indigenous people, vagrants, and slaves for?"
