The hallway outside Classroom 2B looked like a war zone.
Teachers ushered students away with shaking arms, their faces pale and sweaty. A girl cried into her hands. A boy vomited near the lockers. The smell of fear mixed with the metal scent of broken glass and blood.
Arjun stood leaning against the wall, one hand pressed to the cut on his forearm. His fingers trembled uncontrollably. His long black hair stuck to his forehead in damp strands, eyes unfocused.
His mind replayed everything:
Viraj is throwing desks.Students screaming.Samar tackling him.Arjun redirects attacks without thinking. The crack in the wall where Viraj's fist hit.Rudra is watching from the terrace.
It was too much.
Too big.Too fast.Too real.
The system flickered faintly in the corner of his vision.

His breath steadied slightly.
Only slightly.
The principal—a short, heavy man with thick glasses—arrived flanked by three teachers.
His voice boomed louder than necessary."Students! There was NO awakened incident. Viraj Sharma simply had a panic attack. Do NOT spread rumors!"
The students stared back silently.
Everyone saw what Viraj did.
A panic attack didn't throw desks across a room like toys.
The English teacher whispered to another teacher behind her hand :"Velocity will have to be informed… they will come…"
Arjun's skin crawled.
Velocity.The word burned.
Samar's jaw tightened. He heard it too.
The principal continued shouting over the fear.
"ANY STUDENT recording or sharing videos will be suspended! This is a medical situation, NOTHING ELSE!"
Meera stepped next to Arjun, her loose braid and brown eyes trembling.
"They're scared," she whispered.
Arjun nodded faintly. "Everyone is."
"No."She shook her head."The teachers. They're terrified."
Arjun didn't ask how she knew.He could hear the panic leaking from their voices too.
One teacher approached Samar."Samar, please accompany me. We need statements."
Samar didn't move.
"I'm not leaving him alone," he said, jerking his chin toward Arjun.
The teacher stiffened. His eyes flicked between them—the calm boy with perfect uniform sleeves and the thin boy with grey-brown eyes and a bloody arm.
He nodded quickly. "Both of you. Come."
The infirmary smelled of antiseptic and fear.
The nurse cleaned Arjun's arm gently, wincing at the depth of the cut.
"You boys…" she muttered, shaking her head. "What's happening to students these days?"
Arjun didn't respond.
Samar stood near the bed, arms crossed, but his posture was wrong. Not relaxed. Not confident.
Stiff.
His leg bounced slightly—a nervous tick he never showed.
Arjun's eyes narrowed.
"You okay?" he asked quietly.
Samar's dark eyes flickered.He didn't answer immediately.
Then he said it softly:
"My hands are shaking."
Arjun stared.
Because Samar's hands—usually steady, controlled, and clean—trembled subtly at his sides.
His voice dropped."I'm feeling… things I shouldn't."
Arjun exhaled. "Me too."
Samar shot him a sharp look.Not anger.Understanding.
"Something is happening to us," Samar said. "And not just us. Viraj… others…"
The nurse stepped away for a moment.
Samar moved closer, speaking under his breath.
"When Viraj charged… my body reacted before I thought. I moved faster than I ever have."
Arjun's chest tightened.
Samar continued."And when he hit me… it didn't hurt the way it should have."
Arjun swallowed."Samar… You're awakening too."
Samar's jaw clenched.
He whispered:
"I know."
Meera returned with a cloth and bottle of water. Her hands shook as she handed it to Arjun.
"You both could have died," she whispered harshly, voice cracking.
Arjun lowered his gaze.
Samar didn't.
"We didn't," he said quietly.
Meera shot him a glare — the first time Arjun had ever seen her glare at anyone.
"People don't just throw desks, Samar! People don't just scream like that!" She turned to Arjun. "And YOU—what were you thinking stepping in front of him?"
Arjun flinched.
Meera pressed her palm to her forehead, exhaling shakily.
Then she said something that made both boys freeze.
"This isn't the first time I've heard of this."
Arjun's head snapped up.Samar went still.
Meera lowered her voice.
"My cousin in Pune told me last month… a boy in his college suddenly got stronger… attacked his own roommate without realizing…"
Arjun's stomach dropped.
"Two weeks ago," Meera continued, "a girl in Hyderabad fainted in class—her eyes turned silver for a moment."
Samar whispered: "There are others…"
Meera nodded.
"I didn't want to believe it," she said, voice trembling. "But when I saw Viraj today—"
Her words fell apart.
Arjun placed a hand gently on her shoulder.
Their eyes met.
Her brown eyes shimmered with fear and something else—something protective.
"You're not alone," she whispered.
The system pulsed.

The numbness in his chest faded slightly.
Only slightly.
Velocity Appears (Subtle, Silent, Terrifying)
A sound echoed from outside the window.
A low hum.Mechanical.Controlled.
Samar turned first.Then Arjun.Then Meera.
A black SUV rolled into the school grounds.Tinted windows.Matte finish. No markings.
Teachers stiffened when they saw it.
The principal rushed outside, sweat visible even from the infirmary.
Two men stepped out of the SUV.
Black jackets.Black boots.Metallic ID badges clipped to belts.
Their faces are emotionless.Their eyes hidden behind thin, angular glasses.
Velocity India.
Arjun's throat tightened painfully. His instinct flared violently.
The System throbbed in warning:
[External Entity Detected]Threat Level: HighAwakening Line—Stage 1 Increased: 1% → 4%
One of the Velocity agents looked up—toward the infirmary window.
Straight at Arjun.
Their eyes met through glass.
A chill crawled over Arjun's skin like insects.
The agent lifted a device—a small handheld scanner—and pointed it toward the building casually.
Arjun stepped back.
Meera whispered,"What… what is that?"
Samar stood in front of both of them instinctively, blocking their view.
His voice was low and steady:
"Trouble."
As the Velocity agents entered the building, footsteps echoing in unison, Arjun felt something.
A presence.
Not inside the room.Outside.Above.
He turned his head slowly toward the window.
Rudra was standing on the edge of the adjacent rooftop again, wind tugging his tied-back hair.
He didn't hide.
He didn't blink.
He didn't breathe loudly enough to show existence.
He just stared.
At Arjun.
At Samar.
Then his eyes softened—barely—and he made a small gesture with two fingers.
A warning.
Arjun's breath caught.
Then Rudra mouthed two words:
"Not ready."
Arjun's knees weakened.
Samar followed his gaze. His eyes narrowed.
"Who is he?" Samar demanded.
Arjun shook his head faintly. "I… don't know."
He did know.
Just not enough.
Rudra stepped back.
And vanished.
Again.
The Countdown Tightens
The system flickered violently now, filling Arjun's vision.
[Major Quest Updated]Time Remaining: 48 Hours → 36 HoursObjective: Survive Velocity EvaluationPenalty: System Lockout
Arjun almost collapsed.
Samar grabbed his shoulder instantly."Arjun?!"
Arjun gasped."I—I can't… it's—"
Meera moved to his other side."Sit down! Breathe!"
Arjun leaned against the bed, chest rising and falling rapidly. His pupils tightened. His fingers curled into fists without his permission.
His instincts screamed.
Velocity was coming.
Viraj's awakening wasn't random.
And his own body—his own System—his own evolution—
Was spiraling upward faster than he could stand.
Meera touched his hand lightly.
Samar steadied him from the other side.
Arjun lifted his head slowly.
And whispered the only truth that mattered:
"Something is breaking in this world."
The light in Samar's eyes flickered.
Meera trembled.
Outside, Velocity's footsteps grew louder.
Inside him, the System pulsed like a heartbeat that wasn't his.
And Arjun realized:
The storm wasn't coming.
It was already here.
