Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: Weekend Problems

Saturday came around before I knew it and Mir had the bright idea to go to another party, as if the last one wasn't a disaster in the first place. Mir had said that I needed to get out more but I was sure she was trying to hook me up with someone so I would stay. She was nothing if not cunning.

I sigh, bringing out the only dress I currently had, it was the slightly puffy galaxy dress I had worn to prom. I haven't worn it since, but it didn't matter, I stopped growing a long time ago and it still fits perfectly. I put my hair up in a messy bun before walking out of my bathroom. Mir squeals loudly when she sees me. She was in her traditional olive green, side sleeves dress, but even with her black high heels she is still shorter than me.

I grinned at her, I might not like parties, but I did love having a chance to hang out with Mir. "Ok, who are you trying to impress, because I want to give them a hard time."

Mir laughed at that as she shook her head. "If I tried to impress someone, they wouldn't be able to get away from me..." She sighs slightly. "I met up with an old friend... and I learned that they are like me." She gave me a small smile. "I wanted your opinion on them before I go forward."

I hugged her fiercely. "You are going to tell me all about them on the drive there. I want to meet them before you disappear on me like you did last time." I smirk as I see her pout slightly. The pout vanishes in seconds as she tells me all about him.

The trip goes quickly enough, and Mir drags me over to her friend when we get there. The moment I could get away, I did. Leaving Mir to talk to her friend. When she really got into something, she could talk for hours. Her friend, Mike, was the same, and was commenting and asking more questions than I would ever be able to. I walk to the snack table to find something to eat to pass the time. I eye the punch suspiciously as I walk over to it. This is supposed to be a non alcoholic party, but I doubt the people here follow the rule. We try to go to non-alcoholic partys when we can, yet some have had spiked drinks before. I took a sip before spitting it out in a plant nearby. I am unlucky however, and my body starts to attack the alcohol left in me. I ended up throwing up in the bathroom for at least five minutes before my body decided to stop destroying itself. I am still a bit queasy afterwards and decide to stay away from the food.

I noticed Mir going for a sip, and got there just in time to stop her. "Wow, you look like you spent the last week in hell, Lily. Are you alright?"

"I didn't spend the past 5 minutes in hell for you to get sick. The punch is spiked." I explain as she dumps her punch into a nearby plant.

She smiled before giving me a side hug. "Why don't you get a cab and go home. I will have Mike drive me back to my place when the party's over."

I nodded before turning to her friend. "Hurt her and I will make you feel so much pain that you won't be able to stand, and there will be no proof that I did anything." I am lucky that I have never had to make true on my threats.

I decided to walk at the park nearby, I didn't feel like going home just yet. It was still light out, but most people had already gone home. I had changed out of my dress earlier, so I didn't get throw up on it.

"I thought you would have left town or been in a hospital right now, Mis. Lily." A deep voice comes from behind me. I turned on my heel following on my but, and looked up to see Alex. "Sorry if I scared you."

I laughed slightly at that. This guy was just a big old gentle giant. He had a red-brown plaid shirt and light brown pants with camo on it. "I would have left if I could. I just have to find a way to pin what happened on your little vampire friend." I tried to act confident as I stood up. We start walking on one of the park trails. I stay constantly vigilant.

"That idiot deserves what's coming for him. The person that turned him didn't check into his background, after your blood did...whatever that was, many bullets came out. Wolf had to tie up loose ends, so he went back to pick up the bullets. More than one was from police guns, so Wolf checked with police records and found Christian in the system. Kid has been working with the human Mafia for years, long before he was hired by the Supernatural Protection and Elimination office."

"Then he deserves the pain of getting all those bullets out and the healing that comes after. I just hope he gets a swig of alcohol. Now that is painful." I smile sinisterly.

"You're a vindictive one, also what happens if he does?" Alex askes with what looked to be stars in his eyes.

"Police think both my parents died because of something with the mafia, though they never found any evidence. As for the alcohol, it destroys everything in its path, and it is super painful to heal normally. That's why most people have bad hangovers afterwards. My blood makes it heal instantly, but that also means that the alcohol doesn't have time to leave your system and it becomes a war of pain." I explain as I watch the stars in his eyes brighten. "By the way, do you have a little sister by any chance?"

He tripped over his own feet at that. I giggle to myself as he gets up. "Yay, my half sister, why?" He asked as the stars turned into a worried look.

"A girl woke up when I was at the hospital with Mir. She should be fine for a little while, though she doesn't seem to like her doctor very much. She was asking for you the entire time, Kindhearted Protector." He smiles slightly at the name.

"Our dad was always good with words. Got him through the darkest times... I have been having to work a lot more since his passing last year. That's why I took the job for the Supernatural Protection and Elimination office"

"So there are more out there. I guessed but wasn't sure. I figured out that there are vamps like you, Wolf is most likely a werewolf, then I heard Kid call Mir a witch. Then there's whatever I am, I still have no clue."

"There are 12 different species, if you include humans. You're not a ghost or zombi, I saw the blood. You're not a Zombie, or you would probably have killed someone for their brains by now and someone from the Security office would have poisoned you. Zombies lose their souls, making them insane. Goblins don't grow past 3ft tall. The knife went through, sorry, so you're not a Gargoyle. Naga never leave india if they can help it, same with merpeople and the sea. Unless you can turn into a wolf at will or from a reservation, you're not a werewolf. You seemed fine in the sun and you're not human, so that leaves a witch or born demon."

My brain was whirling from the new information. 11 other species out there that humans have never known about. They were not just in the U.S. either, they were all over the world. In an entire world that no one knew about. "Truth be told, the only thing I can do is heal people and well, not die. I got a bullet that went completely through the heart, still didn't die."

He looked thoughtful. "You could be a light witch, light demon, or a new species. The rules on interspecies marriages are as diverse and confusing as the species they belong to. Vamps only rule, if it is a human, then turn them into a vampire, werewolf or zombi."

I laugh at that. "I am guessing all the stereotypes about werewolves and vampires hating each other are just that, stereotypes?"

He nods with a small smile before turning slightly. He directed me to the Public library. "Do you want to see our world?" He asks with a small, but genuine smile.

"If I was anyone else, I would say no. Then again, I can't die." I say then follow him into the library. As we walk deeper and deeper into it, the feeling that comes from being in such an old building surrounds me.
