Ana's POV
Even after boarding the flight back to Marcel, Morris's parting words echoed relentlessly in my head. "Go back and wait for me."
Wait for him? What could he possibly mean?
I stared through the aircraft window as we soared above the clouds, my thoughts drifting until Julio's voice pulled me back.
"What's the matter, Julio?" I asked, finally turning toward him.
Julio had positioned himself in the seat beside me, chin propped on his palm as he studied my face. "Ana, you seem melancholy."
Since boarding, I'd done nothing but gaze out the window in silence. A subtle veil of sadness seemed to have settled over me—not crushing, but noticeable enough to concern those who cared.
Julio caught Fred's eye across the aisle before speaking first.
I shifted to face him properly. He was leaning sideways, head resting on his hand, worry etched in his features.
