Edwin and I were both stunned by Edward Melody' unexpected gesture.
Getting invited by Edward was already shocking enough, but who would've expected him to set aside his status and personally deliver cake to us younger folks?
That authentic, warm smile lighting up his face wasn't an act either.
He genuinely came across like a caring grandfather watching over the next generation.
Edwin and I accepted our cake slices, exchanging glances before facing Edward. I smiled genuinely and said, "Thank you, Grandpa Edward."
Edwin added, "Yeah, thank you, sir." Our voices held the same warmth as the old man's thoughtful gesture.
Edward's aged eyes, usually dim with years, focused on me, suddenly sparkling with nostalgic affection.
"You truly resemble your grandmother—there's quite a likeness," he said fondly.
I'd heard Edwin mention Grandpa Edward and our grandparents before, so having him study me now made me feel somewhat self-conscious.
